I think women just show emotions differently... so they might cry where a man may show anger in place of other emotions - massive generalisation but applies to some.

So that anger may push a man to be good at sex for example

It could be said that all people are emotional and that expressing emotions is essential to a persons well being,it could also be argued that some men are too uptight and repressed from being socialised into suppressing and bottling up their emotions.

So,it could be said that, far from being unable to control their emotions, women are able to use their emotions whereas men are really being controlled by their emotions instead of controlling them.....maybe.

Probably because it was seen as a sign of weakness by past genetations if a man showed his emotions openingly. Nowadays it's more acceptable

Men and women are structured differently, and so are the ways in which their brains function. Women use both sides of their brain, whereas men tend to use the left side more. The left side of our brain is responsible for logical reasoning and problem solving skills, and the right side is responsible for performing prosodic language functions, creativity, facial perception, and for generating emotions. So, the left side of our brain takes care of our IQ and the right side takes care of our EQ.

Here you go.

Why what? I am emotional? Because I feel strongly and express my emotions freely whereas many men cannot, they suppress them through conditioning or fear and then they burst out as anger. But go too a football match and tell me men are not emotional!

Not necessarily true, many men (esp the older generation) are taught that as ‘men’ anger is the only acceptable emotion to show. So many guys get angry when they are actually sad, but they can not identify as sad so it comes out as anger.... less so now thank god!

Ah yes that was it, we have far more connections between the two sides of the brain so can integrate the two better. Can't remember if that's nature or nurture - a combination of the two I think.

"I think women just show emotions differently... so they might cry where a man may show anger in place of other emotions - massive generalisation but applies to some.

So that anger may push a man to be good at sex for example

You can’t be angry when a loved one has passed away

You might not cry either...

I think you will

Possibly a woman might cry at the time but a man might blow up in anger later because he didn't deal with the emotion initially

No.

Where do you get the drive to workout? To fuck? You do have emotions they are just dealt with differently

So you are saying I work out and have sex because I’m angry? "

We all have anger its what you do with it that matters, I don't know you personally but you're on a sex site and you don't look like you're a lazy fucker during workouts, I'd guess that anger drives those 2 activities - stop doing both and see if you start punching walls

Who is easier to deal with? Someone having a good old blub and telling the entire world exactly what is wrong (and a few other things beside)?

Or someone going off in a sulky, silent treatment strop? (then storming off to the pub for a week).

Also, which of those people would you describe as 'in control of their emotions'?

the person who said it was down to hormones may have a point. Tostesterone seems to be like a mixture of nitro glycerine and cobra venom, coursing through peoples veins but only occasionally venturing as far as the brain.Whereas estrogen is more like honey, soothing and pacifying but occasionally turning into just a little too much pinot grigio, when it just has to flow out from somewhere, usually the tear ducts but sometimes from the bladder. (sometimes both, simultaneously).

I'm very logical and very emotional lol, the two are not mutually exclusive!

But why?

Why what? I am emotional? Because I feel strongly and express my emotions freely whereas many men cannot, they suppress them through conditioning or fear and then they burst out as anger. But go too a football match and tell me men are not emotional!

But our wiring is slightly different, men are more wired to 'do' while women are more wired to 'be', our social abilities are more developed than you poor stunted fools, you just focus on chasing the antelope (or the football!)

Just asking

Are you asking as a woman or a man?

Well obviously I’m asking as a man as I am one. Or is my disguise really that convincing finially

Tbh I didn’t want to offend hence the question.

Yes I agree that men have this social pressure to be a man. Mostly from our female counterparts.

I’m not easily offended don’t you worry

So your saying woman put pressure on men to be real men, to be strong and hold it together. I thought women like a man to break down and cry , to show the real emotion, to show that they also have a heart along with balls of steel. Surely you must have broken down sometime. "

I have when a loved one passed away but other than that I’m dead inside.. how about you?

Welcome

however Women are emotional, true. But according to a recent study, men may very well be more emotional than their female counterparts. The only difference is men hide it better.so we are truly stronger than women in that respect. Aren’t we girls. But every now and again a truly strong alpha male come along and tries to show that they are invincible by using tactics such as humour , sarcasm and insults to cover up but we all see the warning signs

...Up on the Downs

Sometimes tears are not emotional darkmail just a true state of affairs. I walked a bit further than intended in a foreign city. My friend was tired and his knees hurt from dancing the night before, He got angry and started to have a go at me - that upset me, and at that point I had a choice - defend against the hurt, get angry right back and have a huge row. Or let my true feeling show (did not want to fight) and flow down my cheeks as tears.

I allowed the latter, which actually was the more authentic reflection of how I felt, and that had the added bonus of stopping my friends expression of anger in it's tracks, 'cos actually he's a big-hearted old bear and he doesn't want to hurt me.

We went and had a nice cup of tea in a boulevard under the trees, and all was well.
