Hoover then dust, when you vacuum dust particles will come off the carpets and become airborne and then settle. I dust it all last.

I always start with clean rooms and then dirty rooms. All my rooms are clean but I leave the ones likely to contain the most bacteria ie, the toilet last. I clean the lounge first, dining room, then kitchen, utility and downstairs bathroom last. My utility contains plastic tupperware boxes with cloths/sponges for each room to ensure that I never use a sponge previously used in my toilet in the kitchen. I'm gonna shut up now cos I am obsessional about cleaning habits.

I have separate mops too and obviously the mop that I use to wash out my wheelie bin weekly can never ever be in the same space as my kitchen mop - I think I'd have a panic attack if those mops ever touched

Depends how duety it is, if there is loads of dust, dust first, then any particles swept onto the floor during dusting will get sucked up.

If not very dusty, hoover first then dust after a few minutes, it will remove all the newly settled particles from your surfaces.

Or just pay someone else to do it!

There is definitely an art to this simple task.

Thanks for all your steer, I think I'm gonna go with what I thought half way down the thread, and buy some low watt bulbs.

Lol, that really gonna get me loads of fun at mine now, bring your dust masks. Or if your into rubber, bring your marigolds.
