PROFILES:

I’ve came across one today that was like war and peace. It was lots of DOs and don’t, Capitals and shouty sentences.

I’ll be honest it was a woman’s profile and it got me thinking WTF! If I was a man I’d totally just think ‘diva’ or she thinks a lot of herself.

Thoughts on very long profiles ? I know it’s everyones prerogative but I’m wandering if anyone else eyeball rolls at long demanding shouty profiles ?

Yes I should of said it’s more the context. If it’s well written and funny then I’ll read and think ‘cool’. There’s been a few though lately when scrolling profiles and they are full of demands and shouty sentences.

Do men/woman really read and take note? I’d have more respect and think leave you to it darling.

Sorry I should of explained more, I meant the ones that are listing DOs and donts and lists of what they want and don’t dare message without this or that and you have to be xxx or xxx and even then don’t expect a reply etc

I just delete if I don’t think we’re compatible, that’s me though I know everyone is different.

I don't worry about having lots of rules. I think most of them are common courtesy anyway. I have no interest in messaging people who want to put so much energy into being negative.

When mine's unhidden, it's long. It explains how I go though and filter my messages. It's designed to stop people who don't fit the criteria from messaging me.

It doesn't work though. The majority of messages I get are from people who clearly don't read it.

I don't have a long list of demands because I think I'm entitled. I have them because I hate to waste their (and mine) time.

On my profile I ask people to put in the subject box the name of the Westlife song they want me to hum as I smash their back doors in.

Makes it easier to le out the timewasters

If people roll their eyes at a profile then they shouldn't contact that profile holder.

As you say, it's their prerogative so I leave them to it. If they want to list rules, let them. If they want to write War and Peace, let them. If they want to write one word and have 100 pictures, it's up them.

There are an awful lot of very shouty bossy rule-listing profiles that demonstrate that the person really doesn’t view any forthcoming interaction as being between equals. I have got to the point now where I rarely even bother looking.

I chat with people I know, check out the forums, visit clubs to socialise etc, but have pretty much given up on using Fab for speculative chats with strangers with an eye to meets. It just isn’t a very pleasant experience most of the time and so many profiles are just jaw droppingly arrogant!

There's a lot of female profiles like that on here I've noticed, I wouldn't be remotely interested in them regardless of how attractive their pictures may be, I'm not jumping through hoops for someone who has some superiority complex because they're reasonably good looking.

After the long ass profile message, I get bored after the first line and kinda think, there is going to be a title to add to email, but think if they are so up the own arses can’t imagine a conversation with the person.

Majority of the time the profile should read “ I have a vagina and by goodness I’m going to make it hard to get, unless you meet in a club”

Takes 2 seconds. Less than it takes for them to read a lengthy shouty profile. I know instantly if they are not for me! Sometimes delete without reading.

Absolutely, who would want to get closer to a person like that? Unfortunately, they may be screening out people who have some self respect and only be receiving messages from people who are willing to have sex with anyone as long as they are female.

I can’t help but smile at people complaining that they have to wade through so many messages from people who find them attractive and want to have sex with them. It must be just terrible for them ??

I change my profile text like some folk change their undercrackers.

It tends to go on my mood, sometimes i’m lighthearted and othertimes it’s more serious as i’ve changed it because i’m in a mood.

I’ve now opted for long winded with a bit of smut.

I’ve also got my filters on.

Ours is really long but it works for us. It's not shouty or ranty, it just clearly sets out "us".

Readers can take us or leave us. Those claiming it's "too long to read" are unlikely to be the kind of people we would get on with anyway.

I say it often profiles should inform the reader of the wants and desires of the other person...hopefully the reader can then make an informed choice if you've similar interests.. how they put over that information is key for me... I'm here for fun laughs and frisky frolics and I always feel the profile is a reflection of the person ..so negative ranty profiles..I'm out of there.. what's the old saying you reap what you sow.

I’m more a fan of meeting someone for a drink and getting to know them face to face rather than deciding if I like them from some words on a profile. I tend to only scan profiles for the secret code word that goes in the headline.

In the past I've had very demanding profiles. Profile would state that I only wanted men over 6ft, must be obscenely handsome, must have dark hair, strong jaw line, big eyebrows, penis minimum 7 inches with minimum circumference of 5.5". Do not send me pictures of yourself hanging out of a buzzard, do not message me without sending face and penis pictures, blah blah blah and so on and so forth. Guess what, I still had 1000's of messages even with that kind of profile.

I'd prefer someone to have a ranty profile and fucking own it without being ashamed over someone that seems like a try hard, look at me I'm so chill, I'm so great blah blah blah.

As ever the main determinant on here is sex. Women can have nothing on their profile or come across as a bunny boiler and they will still get loads of messages. Men doing the same will get nothing.

Long profiles don't bother me. But as soon as they start stipulating loads of requests then I just move on. My biggest bug bare is when a face photo is requested before any reply will be contemplated. Yet they have no profile photo or any other photos.

I had a thoughtful and well written profile that contained a decent amount of information and wasnt too serious, but had no luck.

Re-wrote it to be a bit more concise and - you guessed it - still no luck!

Mines a very very lengthy profile and hold my hands up that I do keep adding to it over the 9 years on here

If a profile is too long I tend to switch off & loose interest before I get to the end,hence why mine is reasonably short & to the point. I do remember comming across a ladies profile a few years ago which was very long,but it was a good read as she listed all her recent sexual exploits,got me hard just reading it.

Its a hit like tit and cock size. Does it really matter, its what it does that counts. Same as short or long profiles. Too short I ignore.

1.No, it’s way too long

2.The majority of forum threads started by women ranting that men don’t read their profiles have a combination of long / ranty / demanding text - so it’s pretty clear to me that most people on here don’t read it which in turn pisses the profile owner off.

I used to have a long detailed profile, no one read it fully which I found annoying. With the limited text I have now, I still get the same questions but the annoyance factor has gone.

And a long ranty profile write up achieves little, I read most if not all profiles and some of the long ones that have humour are OK the others just say, don't go there winger

It a profile has capital letter in it tends to put me off a little as it comes across as shouting and ranting.

I dint mind if it's quite long and is entertaining to read, but if it's just a long list of rules and do's and don't's then I move on to the next.

I started w&p and began to lose interest as it becomes a lot to take on. A lot of detail that in places becomes demanding to concentrate on and follow. So i stopped reading it.

So that is why people quote it.
