For all the gossips out there:

In ancient Greece, Socrates was widely lauded for his wisdom.

One day an acquaintance ran up to him, excitedly...

"Socratese, have you heard about Diogenes?"

"Wait... Firstly, Are you sure what you are about to say is True?"

"No... I just heard it..."

" Secondly.. Is it a good thing about him?"

"On the contrary..."

" Thirdly... Is this something useful.?"

" Not really..."

"So..." said Socrates wisely...

"What you are about to tell me may not be True, and is neither Kind nor Useful... So, why say it at all...?"

Suitably ashamed... The other man walked away...

This explains why Socrates was considered to be a great philosopher...;-)

It also explains why Socrates never found out that Diogenes was shagging his wife...
