No, seriously, look up sinister in the dictionary.

We shake hands with the right to prove we have no weapon in our strong hand, but lefties were treated with suspicion,as they could use a knife / sword on the left, while shaking hands.

My oldest sister and I are both lefties, her primary school teacher tried to tie her left (wrong) hand to her chair but my mum intervened.
