Twenty years 49-50 was considered old, 70 ancient.

Now in the 21st century being 40-50 is the new 30-40 I feel younger now than I did when running around after kids I am in the prime of my life, I have more energy and zest for life than the younger colleagues at work.. So I can see why younger men see the over 40 as more appealing generally less hung up in life more relaxed about their bodies and mote sexuality active..

I sometimes refer to myself as old. Some of my colleagues are 40 years younger than me, I must seem like flaming Methuselah to them. I truly can't see a problem with it. In turn I see my parents as old and they see me as young

On the other hand as an 'older' woman (based on the popular definition) I'm more or less exactly the same person as I was 20 years ago when I would have been considered (just about) young. Really? I've witnessed regular posters on bbw threads make derogatory comments and jokes on threads dedicated to slim/thin ladies. Those threads always get derailed incredibly quickly.

The lady was having a giggle and she is over 50 herself and likes a younger guy. I think people need to stop taking every comment so seriously. I make those kind of jokes but I’m far from saggy and wrinkly.

The Zimmer frame jokes etc get on my nerves purely because they're unoriginal and usually made by people outwith the expressed preference. My opinion is that the fewer posts taken up disputing that type of comment the better, it also leaves more posts for the topic in hand.

I didn't think I was being disrespectful and my remarks were actually somewhat tongue in cheek and self deprecating. I certainly wasn't attacking the OP.

And I read it because I know I'm considered an older woman and the thread might therefore be relevant. I'm always interested in other people's 'things' even when they do nothing for me because I like virtual people watching.

It's also surely a bit presumptuous to state that the 'older woman' thing is due to the naughtiness and taboo age difference. For some the attraction could be an arguably more mature outlook, the lure of more life experience, or indeed certain physical aspects of an older body as well. As you state, everyone is different. I'm interested to read about stuff like that in a thread like this.
