"It does seem that way at the moment. I know one of my friends wants a tattoo but she won’t get one as its too popular at the moment. I’m like that too ( don’t like following trends). My tattoos were all done before everyone went med for them. " Yet it seems that not following the masses seems to be a trend these days so you can't bloody win. Just get the damn tattoo if you want it lol

"Is it more original and edgy and rebellious, not to have a tattoo these days, as every Tom, Dick and Sally has one now ?" I think you should get one of those funny elephant faces above your penis.

Personally I think it’s great that tattoos are accepted now and aren’t seen as being the reserve of the violent or chavs.

"A lot of people are posting that they had tattoos/ liked tattoos before they became popular... does that matter to people? Is it a bit like talking about a popular band and saying that you saw them before they went mainstream?" No, just explains why some have intrinsic pieces of art on their body and others look like their tats were done by a blindfolded d*unk person

Should have I think loosing it was the beginning of the end... now no-one has them

"A lot of people are posting that they had tattoos/ liked tattoos before they became popular... does that matter to people? Is it a bit like talking about a popular band and saying that you saw them before they went mainstream?" People like to think they're something special. Reality is, of you like a picture and want it on your body forever then do it wether it's 'popular' or not.

"It's definitely more common, but I can confirm from the filthy looks I still get when I wear shorts that it's not completely normalised." I get the same reaction when I wear shorts. Nothing to do with tattoos though, I just have awful skinny milk-bottle legs.

"The front man of radiohead once said "One day it will be trendy to have nothing done to your body" With rising trends in piercings and tattoos i am sure it will happen " There will soon be thousands of people in laser removal clinics getting there pocket watches, infinity symbols, stars and roses on the backs of their hands taken off. Am considering learning how to do it tbh, there is gonna be alot of money to be made in the name of fashion

"I haven't got mine because they are trendy, got them because I spent a long time coming up with what I wanted and I like them. Got a full 10 hour session booked in to start on my right arm sleeve in October, left arm is half done. Got planned so for my back and chest too. Couldn't give a shit what others think." I may need to see those!!

"In answer to the question though, it seems everyone who has no tattoos these days are vocally smug about being the "edgy rebellious ones these days" so by very definition, no you're not. You're still slavishly following a trend, just a different one to those with tattoos. " Noòooo. I didnt want tattoos long before it was trendy not too . Dont make me a rebel

"Indeed. And I’ve never felt the need for a big bushy beard or even a top-knot. I’m now the ‘alternative’ to the mainstream by having none of the above. " I have no tattoos and the only reason for a beard was that i was too lazy to shave. However it made me look like Charles Manson, as for top knot (twat knot) i do not have enough hair on my head.

"The front man of radiohead once said "One day it will be trendy to have nothing done to your body" With rising trends in piercings and tattoos i am sure it will happen " In my head I see the nursing homes of the future. All the old people in there covered in tats, and the younger people caring for them without any. Because at that point tattoos will be something only your gran has...

I just tend not to follow the masses like a lost sheep. I love the fact that people with tattoos aren’t stereotyped in to being violent or chavs. It’s for everyone.

"Is it more original and edgy and rebellious, not to have a tattoo these days, as every Tom, Dick and Sally has one now ?" I think it is! I have zero tattoos and these days that is far more unique than it is to have them. I’ve never had the urge to get one as I know I’d hate it quite quickly. I’ve seen some great ones on friends and family but I know I wouldn’t like it on me.

Am considering learning how to do it tbh, there is gonna be alot of money to be made in the name of fashion " I have noticed this on Instagram a lot of people getting their tattoos lasered off. I’ve noticed it with lip fillers aswell, loads of girls got it done, and plenty got it done when Kylie Jenner admitted to having it done, but now Kylie as dissolved some of hers I’ve noticed lots of girls recently doing the same.

"Indeed. And I’ve never felt the need for a big bushy beard or even a top-knot." Ah, the hipsters with their man buns, man bags, monstrous beards and huge tattoo's on very thin arms. Along with the skinny jeans and man bags it's not a good image at all. In the future they'll look back at the thousands of selfies they've posted on Facebook and cringe. Much like people who are now in their 60's look back with horror at platform shoes and tartan flares.

"If the reason is rebellion, or fitting in, then you’re in trouble with tattoos. Regret will follow. I’ve had my final one done and I love it the most. Each one of them are part of me. They serve as reminders, scars of art. " Wow, scars of art. Brilliant.

"I don't have tattoos either. Sooo many women say "love a man with tattoos" these days but I won't be getting any because of that. It's strange how tattoos got so wildly popular over the last 20 years. It used to be working class men and the military that had them and now the majority seem to have a tattoo. I must admit it's a turn off when I see a woman plastered in tattoos. Though they're probably turned off by my lack of tattoos " That is often the difference between the tattooed and the not... The tattooed don't care if you don't have any
