We had to get our old man put to sleep today. He had a stroke but after 24 hrs no improvement. It was a hard decision to make but for the best he isn't in pain anymore or suffering 1 week before his 14th birthday too.

We will always miss you Benny so much loved and gravely missed xxx

Heartbreaking! We had the same situation with one of our Welsh Collies just before Christmas, he too had a stroke and had to have him put down....he was 12. We then found out 3 weeks ago that his wee brother had a massive soft tissue tumour in his right hind leg and had to have it amputated. I think sometimes non pet owners fail to appreciate that they are family

Sorry for your lost. I’m grieving at the moment too, after loosing my 11 year old Cavalier to the ill-fated heart condition, last Tuesday. My 12 year old Persian last November.

Pets become part of the family and it’s a shame that they don’t live as long as us.

So sorry to hear your sad news hugs for you both.

Our furbabies are all getting older. Polly, our oldest is nearly 14 and this year she’s had 2 major health issues. Firstly in February she had a back issue which caused neurological symptoms and she appeared d*unk. Then at the end of June, just as she recovered from the earlier problem, we nearly lost her due to complications from undiagnosed diabetes.

Although she’s now in good health and her conditions are managed, it makes you realise how fragile their health can become as they age and how quickly things can happen

I feel your pain.. it does get better with time. I lost mine at 9 months when he stood on the window button in the car, when he saw the beach he jumped out, got hit by another car, broke my heart. But alls ok now.still think of him lots. RIP snoop.

I cried when in your position, and that's rare for me, but, take a deep breath, stop your bottom lip from quivering and tell yourself it was the best thing, the only thing to do, to help them. X
