Exotic Flavoured Gins

The the modern rush for new and interesting flavours of gin, has anybody come across flavoured tonic water instead?

I know that it makes me sound like a cheapskate but you could buy a good quality gin as the base. I think the Yorkshire is rubbing off on me after 25 years...

I like exotic flavoured gin with flavoured tonic water too

Having said that the 4 pillars shiraz gin needed no such enhancement

Distillation processes especially with alcohol are generally much better at extracting flavourands from natural ingredients than cold extractions.

I'm a pleb, I love the rhubarb and ginger gin liqueur, and the flavour is so full you can mix it with any old tonic lol.

But my favourite straight gin is Silent Pool, and the delicate flavours in that definitely need something more refined like Fevertree tonic. I don't like the flavoured tonics at all.

I'm keen to try the Italian lemon gin though - that sounds great.

Got the colour changing mixed fruits Gin from Callander in Scotland, starts blue and turns pink with tonic.

Silent pool is lovely and the bottle is pretty too.

I hated gin until they started doing new flavours. Love pairing then up with different flavour tonics. Still dislike plain gin though.

Currently enjoying a nice bottle of Roku, a Japanese gin with all sorts of weird and wonderful botanicals in it. I'd love to hear any obscure recommendations for what to guzzle next

Mrs has bought some flavoured syrups that she mixes with a quality gin and seems to like it, she has Cherry Bakewell and Parma Violet at the minute.

I'm currently drinking Gordon's pink gin, with pink lucozade , but I tried the pink tonic water from Schweppes which was also very nice, I love fresh fruit in mine too.

Monkey 47 is a fantastic gin, 40 botanicals apparently. It's my favourite atm but it is pricey.

Other nice (non flavoured ones) are Silent Pool and Hendricks mixed with the Mediterranean fever tree and a slice of grapefruit or a few strawberries.....lovely

There are some lovely flavoured ones not yet mentioned- several Raspberry ones (Foxdenton in particular) and pink grapefruit one from Italy called Malfy

But agree, can do nice things with mixers. I keep a bottle of cheaper gin in the freezer and then add it to the flavoured San Pellegreno's (Grapefruit in particular) as a nice long drink.

OP fevertree do a fabulous range of flavoured tonics but they are expensive and I can't have them because of the sugar content (I'm diabetic). Avoid the supermarket own brand flavoured tonic - they're nasty . I tent to buy schweppes slimline tonic or lidl diet tonic, both are very good and the lidl one is only 37p!

I've got a few preferred gins at the moment. Tanqueray flor De Seville, lidl hortus citrus garden.

For a real treat I will have redsmith dry apple gin. It's made locally and isn't available to buy in the shops, you can only order from their website. It's a limited edition distilled with bramley apples. Expensive at £43 a bottle but lovely.

In my experience (order picker for a cash and carry ), gin is now right up there with vodka as the fastest mover. The fact that many are above the 37% content of vodka helps too. Bigger range of flavours means something for everyone. I like boe's violet stuff

I have quite the collection of different gins right now and it seems to be growing all the time. At the moment I’ve got Ophir, Aldi regular gin, Aldi needle, Gordon’s pink gin, tanqueray flor de Sevilla, damson gin, sloe gin and also 2 batches of homemade rhubarb gin being made
