So.. The wink button. What's the etiquette? Is it a hello or a can I message you? I have never been winker or winkee. Does anyone use it or just skip to the message?

I’m the same but seeing the counter thing on my homepage bugs me so I just go in and bulk delete. I don’t see the point of them.

Well, you see, the THEORY of the wink is very sound and if only everyone used them in the way that I assume they were intended they could be a great innovation, and dare I say actually one of the most useful features of the site!

So many ladies complain that they get loads of messages from unsuitable men.

So many men complain that they spend ages writing messages to women, only for them to be deleted or ignored.

Surely, if everyone used the wink system PROPERLY, a wink would signify initial interest. If reciprocated, then this would open up the opportunity to start a message exchange - and then it would be up to the parties involved to ensure they made it interesting enough to sustain correspondence.

But it would cut out the ‘wasted’ effort from unwanted long messages up front if everyone played the game!

I know many people consider them lazy, but spending 20 minutes writing a bespoke piece of prose to every person that takes your fancy is more of a waste of time if you don’t appeal to the person who you’re writing to!

An initial wink wink exchange would solve this!

But sadly, unless most of the site change their attitudes to winks then they’re largely useless!

Which is a shame!

(p.s. always happy to receive winks here!! )

In which case don’t reciprocate - if everyone used winks PROPERLY (which I know they don’t!!) then they’d know it was no match and not message you!

Surely it’s better to get a wink off an unsuitable guy than have them waste 20 minutes writing a tailored message to you if you have no interest in them whatsoever. Win / win for both parties!

Very well put. I like to receive winks & do send the odd one if someone's profile appeals,as a carefully composed message will probably be deleted or ignored anyway.

I completely agree with you on that. People who don’t check their winks are probably those who don’t check their messages either.

I had my first wink from fabbing a pic. I sent a message thanking them for the wink and paid a compliment. I got a message back. Now I don’t know if that was them being polite or if a prolonged chat will ensure. I think that was used properly.

Lol...................of course the "wink" button is useful. About 2 mins ago i had a wink from a couple who's profile i had looked at. Nothing has happened yet. But peeps and "couples" in particular that just ignore and delete winks as a matter of course are missing out on all sorts is my opinion.

We look at the profiles of people who wink, and message if interested. Hate it though when you message reply to a wink and then get a blank or a "not interested". Maybe a lot of people wink without reading a profile.

swingers clubs

We see a wink as a kinda 'check me out'

Generally though it's from profiles with little effort put into them.

I'm a pictures gal - if I don't see anything I like then I won't wink back. 'XX'

We have always used winks. If we like the look of the winkee we will either wink back or message.

That’s what I do. Or if I’ve sent a wink and get one back I’ll then send a message.
