Firstly, please don't use this thread to tell us you don't like football for whatever reason. Same with telling us how rugby is better. Or just non football negativity.

You can make your own thread just as easy as I made this one.

I didn't make this thread last week as 'current' Premier League club fans wouldn't of been able to join in as much. That begins tonight though.

What's your thoughts on the season ahead for yours and other teams?

Just use this to talk football and we can keep most of the chat to one thread.

I'm a long term Cardiff fan. Having seen us play in every competition (just about). I never watched us in the pre last time. It wasn't a good time we were in turmoil.

We might get relegated this time round but we've but things in place, we haven't gambled on loads of players.

I think it will look like:

1. Man City

2. Liverpool

17. Cardiff

Good luck to your team regardless of what league your in.

Your a United fan if I remember?

You in the Champions League or Europa?

I reckon Jose will be one of the first managers to go. He looks fed up and I know fans are fed up of him too.

Liverpool look so strong this year. Sadly it coincides with years of Man City dominance and just being able to keep spending silly money.

Maureen looks like he may crack this season with the scum and fuck knows with Arsenal as its the first time Arsenal can possibly offer anything to the league for the first time in around 15 years, with a new manager.

Cardiff will probably get relegated.

Going to be odd with no Wenger but I grew to like him in his latter years in the prem.

We get to see what Warnock has to say instead.

Most people don't like him until he rocks up at your club. He reminds me of Brian Clough in some ways and I like that.

A lot of press conferences today.

When we were in the prem before I remember our owner doing his on conference just after the managers and so the press concentrated on that.

I also remember the pundits talking about the top 6 or bottom 3 but not so much the bits in between.

The league looks a lot harder to stay in this time round.

Look at Everton and West Ham this season. Burnley are still doing amazingly well.

In a town Fab forgot

I can't see Jose making it to the end of the season.

I can't see Chelsea in the top 4 either. It'll be another tough season for Chelsea, especially as they still don't have truly world class strikers. We seem to be buried in midfielders with no one to pass the ball to.

Add in a new manager, new to the premiership and a new style of playing.

Admittedly they were short of a few players but they were dire in the cup against city and haven't set the world alight in the champions cup either.

99% of their goals in the champions cup were from penalty shoot outs.

One thing any team in the premiership needs is someone to put the ball in the net.....

That's some dunce.......

Chelsea haven't replaced Diego Costa have they?

Is Morata not that worldie you talk about?

Congrats on keeping Hazard, think back to as the world cup came to a close. He talked about wanting to move, that got stamped out and since then he's just got on with it.

Opposite to the keeper who's name I got no chance of spelling correctly.

I know next to nothing of this season's new manager Chelsea have employed. What's the odds on him starting next season as manager? 50/50?

Barcelona, Bayern and Man City.

He inherited one of the best teams to ever play the game. Bayern Munich have been ome of the best teams in world football since forever and Manchester City had billions pumped into them years before and frankly SHOULD have won the league every year before he arrived.

Everyone here could win titles with those three teams. Limitless funds and the tightest grip on their leagues.

That three at the back high line is easily abused with pace. Look at when Liverpool smashed them for 75 minutes. Piece of piss.

There was no replacing Costa but he wanted out. No team needs a player who doesn't want to be there.

Motata seems short of confidence and has done for a while. When he's tackled he seems to expect a foul be awarded, instead of trying to get the ball back. Missed several good chances against arsenal in the CC, plus missed a penalty.

His body language is negative....

Sarri came from NapolI where he did ok but didn't win anything, although his style of play is a lot more exciting than Jose's.

Fingers crossed he gets the time and players he wants, alas this is Chelsea so probably not.

IMHO Chelsea's recruitment has been dire for ages.....

Surely the better the players the bigger the ego's?

Take Poges as eh. If memory serves me right his first game back for Man Utd came with his own hastag or something.

He's not happy. He wanted out. Something going on with him and Jose who also has an ego, it seems.

It's not just tactics it's managing egos, keeping the non starters happy. Everyone wants to play, they all want to start.

great managers get this bit right wether a manager turns that player around or in Fergies case boots them out the door (Beckham, Ronaldo). Those two still call him 'The Boss'

As a Cardiff fan I take no offence whatsoever. My head says 20th but my heart says 17th. I know Warnock will use every pundits prediction to hopefully be our advantage.

No one expected us to get anywhere near promotion last season and it worked in our favour.

I don't want to predict who's going down.

Watch out for Josh Murphy and Bobby Reid both exciting young players who regardless of our season will go on to even bigger things having come up with us from the Championship.

Just about all our purchases were.

City Liverpool Spurs Arsenal for me.

Spurs have a settled side at the moment, the others have new players/manager to bed in.

Much as it pains me I can't see Chelsea in the top four without at least one world class striker.

So glad it’s back!! There’s been virtually no close season at this this Summer with the pre-World Cup friendlies, the WC itself, and then the club friendlies starting as soon as the WC ended.

Can’t see beyond Man City this season.

I think my local team, Reading, will finish about 10th in the Championship this year!

Highlights have gone from C5 to Quest.

For me. This is the best league in the world. Ahead of the premier and La Liga. I won't miss it. It looks even more difficult than last season.

I'm an Everton fan, after yesterday's transfer business a bit more optimistic about how we will do. Got rid of a lot of rubbish and bought wisely.

Think City will win the title again... Rest of top 4 tricky to predict? Spurs not signed anyone, new managers at Arsenal and Chelsea, Jose could have his usual 3rd season meltdown, then there's Liverpool who spent well.

Wolves and Fulham could surprise!

I'd like to think Everton can push for top 6 with the current squad, depends how quickly they gel together and if our defending improves.

Lot of cubs have bought well, surprised how well Fulham have strengthened. West Ham bought well and have a manager who knows the league, Wolves will be interesting. Lots of new players but will they adapt to the league?

Fair few teams have ability to get top 10.

There and to the left a bit

I think City and Liverpool are likely to run away from the pack and slog it out for the title - perm anyone from Spurs, Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea for the remaining Champions League places - they each have their different problems to overcome but are capable of top 4.

West Ham and Everton both look strong but may depend how their new players bed in. Wolves could be a surprise package too if their new players gel.

At the other end suspect Cardiff and Southampton will struggle and possibly Newcastle if they don't sort out some of their off pitch problems.

I think Chelsea have possibly the strongest midfield in the premiership. Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic is an awesome combination. Throw in Fabregas and RLC and it has great depth. Bit worried about the lack of firepower but with Hazard and Willian supplying whoever starts up front they should get plenty of chances. A decent left back would complete the team and make us a force to be reckoned with.

Man Utd off to a winning start last night. I still think Friday night football is weird (prem).

Cardiff currently sitting in the European places so if the queen dies or something and the league gets cancelled we've had a good season. Sorry The Queen I'm sure there's other examples.

Proper football started last week!

Championship football is so more exciting than the mega-bucks, spoilt brat players, all image and no style Premier League.

£395 for my season ticket at Nottingham Forest. What's the cheapest in the Premier League?

Everton fan. I think we will finish top ten but not sure we will challenge the top 6 this season, there’s not a lot between several clubs outside of the top 6. I’m glad we’ve shipped some absolute shite out of the club - can’t take a repeat of last season.

Difficult to see beyond City and Liverpool this season. Would love to see Moanrinho as the first manager to go.

I prefer the Championship but then our last and only stint in the Prem was a terrible time.

It's the best league in Europe but not everyone played last weekend.

Glad we ain't in it it looks harder than ever to get promoted.

I think you've been a bit unfair with your pop at Prem players, not all of them are like that and if so you will naturally get Champ players with egos.

I'm watching Soccer AM for the first time in a lifetime.

I feel I have a right to now we are with the big boys.

That Blonde woman isn't here but Gazza is on. He looked a bit wobbly on his feet just now.

Such a shadow of his former self. Thankfully he is still with us though.

Manchester united good start beating Leicester after negative vibes coming off poor pre season and poor window cant see us catching city this season as we didn't get players we needed in the window . I think we will come 2nd or 3rd and hopefully win one domestic cups and get further into champions league then last season. Looking forward to Liverpool and city games today see how they shape up as us , spurs and Chelsea have all got off to winning start

Yes but there's none of the top 6 over here in Cardiff but all of them have only ever supported these big clubs and still don't support Cardiff. They will look for the results and hope they do well but have always been loyal to their first ever club.

Less than 50% actually travel to Manchester, Liverpool and London to watch their teams. Very few now I think of it

There and to the left a bit

"Do you find supporters of the "top 6" are least likely to have any connections personally or geographically to those teams?"

I think teams doing well will always attract their share of glory hunters and the longer they continue to do well the more they attract - take Spurs for example, they've had years and years of average performance and is only in the last 8 years or so they've grown into being a regular and consistent visitor to the top 6 so I suspect their core fan base will be die hard fans who've followed them through thick and thin for years. Man United on the other hand who have always been a "glamour" club probably have a much higher percentage of fans who have followed them because of their success.

You then also have to factor in the cost of going to football these days which has priced a lot of people out of it - to go to a Premiership game with a child and introduce them to a team (which is how it happened in my day) you're looking at upwards of £100 just for tickets - let alone programme, hot dog, trip to the shop etc - so in some ways that's helping lower league teams and pushing locals more to going to see them as it's cheaper - I know of a few people who now go to see the local Division One team rather than fork out Premier League prices

"Do you find supporters of the "top 6" are least likely to have any connections personally or geographically to those teams?"

I can't afford to live in London, I'd buy a property next to The Emirates if I could, but I have a strong family connection to the team. I was a season ticket holder for many years and have watched them abroad, watched pre season tournaments etc. Does it really matter if you don't support your local team? I certainly didn't pick Arsenal because of their history or the colour of their strip.

I really feel that the old adage “if you aren't local then you aren't loyal” is rubbish. Football supporters should be allowed the same geographical freedom as the players, without fear of being branded a glory hunter or a plastic fan.

I know it's just fans banter we get and same with Swansea.

England this, England that, sheep shagging this, national anthem that and so on. I understand all of that.

I don't understand our fans who sing anti English stuff. We had one Cardiff lad start for us, came through the ranks.

Most our players, the manager, the coaches are English.

'Same old England, always cheating'. That's a beaut that is

I suppose at least Liverpool Away is out the way now

Hoping Orient can get back out of the National League this year but three draws to start the season is poor, considering we were leading in two late on at home only to concede silly goals.

The team I support (Celtic) have been crap this season. Their game against AEK was hard to watch

Gerard has also been a breath of fresh air for Rangers much to Mr's delight. Hope Celtic pull their socks up and get their shit together. Hoping for some exciting games when they both play x

Who's the manager?

Is that boxing promoter still the owner?

"Liverpool look so strong this year. Sadly it coincides with years of Man City dominance and just being able to keep spending silly money.

Maureen looks like he may crack this season with the scum and fuck knows with Arsenal as its the first time Arsenal can possibly offer anything to the league for the first time in around 15 years, with a new manager.

Cardiff will probably get relegated."

I agree and think they are a good bet to go back down.

Have them in a double with Man city to win the league.

I think we may be fairly unique.

No one expected us to get promoted and we had a great time doing so. Even if we hadn't it still would of been an amazing season.

Not many are expecting us to stay up, either way we are going to have a great season trying.

It works in our favour that people are writing us off and frankly; so they should.

We have a great team for next season.

Regardless what happens, don't sack Warnock

Justin Edinburgh these days. Doing an OK job so far. Barry Hearn sold up to a corrupt Italian businessman four years ago, which is pretty much the reason we find ourselves in the fifth tier. But the club is under better ownership as of last year again as the rebuilding process goes on.

Well I wish you good luck in your return to League 2. Orient were a team we played every season.

Not easy being in your catchment area either.

Well I went to the arsenal Man City game and I have to say I am not too disappointed by the score line, but you could see we are light years behind where city are at the moment, you could also see what emery is trying to do, and you could see there are going to be some really awkward fits (granit xhaka looking at you!)

Overall not the worse first game... but you can see where he will need to still improve the team

As previous with West Ham at Liverpool. At least its out the way, done and dusted.

I would of loved to have lost against one of the big teams first up, instead it was Bournemouth.

"Do you find supporters of the "top 6" are least likely to have any connections personally or geographically to those teams?

I can't afford to live in London, I'd buy a property next to The Emirates if I could, but I have a strong family connection to the team. I was a season ticket holder for many years and have watched them abroad, watched pre season tournaments etc. Does it really matter if you don't support your local team? I certainly didn't pick Arsenal because of their history or the colour of their strip.

I really feel that the old adage “if you aren't local then you aren't loyal” is rubbish. Football supporters should be allowed the same geographical freedom as the players, without fear of being branded a glory hunter or a plastic fan. "

Back in the day there was more of an affinity to local areas, especially in London but there were areas it did overlap... arsenal and Tottenham were both “north London” but arsenal were the club of the inner city, whereas Tottenham were seen as the club of the richer suburbs

Most of east London was West Ham, but bits merged into arsenal and Tottenham territory... Walthamstow for example had a mix of all 3

It’s a quirky situation now where all 3 have huge support especially going into essex

We need Orient back, if just for the great Supporters Social Club that they have there.

League Cup first round last night. A few upsets in there.

We'll done Exeter and Plymouth. Both getting results against higher league opportunity.

Forest beat Bury 10-9 on penalties

Athletico Madrid beat Real Madrid last night.

Was the Super Cup.

Winner of the Champions League vs Europa league winners.

This transfer windows is still half open.

Real are missing Ronaldo it seems and have a gap to fill, maybe I should say 'bridge' a gap.

Chelsea fans, you nervous? Real do admire Eden Hazard and not many teams or players turn them away.

The idea that Real - who can buy anyone they want and are pretty much backed by an entire country - are missing a player makes me laugh.

If Hazard had any sense he'd go to real, big shoes to fill but a good test.

I hope they don't get Hazard or anyone else. I'd like Bale to be the main man for at least x1 season and be approximated by all the fans finally.

He's had a great start so far

Cardiff v Newcastle 12.30 KO

That's pretty disgusting if you ask me. I have the upmost respect for away fans.

Sky moved this game to suit them. I'm guessing Newcastle fans set off at 4am this morning.

Football need to grow a pair and face up to the money men.

1-0 Cardiff.

probably 4-0 Newcastle. We never beat them.

Have a safe journey to all you football fans, enjoy the match.

In a town Fab forgot

Looking forward to the Chelsea game later.

If and it's a big if, we can beat the Gunners it would put us 6 points clear of them.

Although it's only the second week those 6 points could be crucial in the battle for 4th place at the end of the season. Specially as I think we'll be fighting Arsenal for the last CL place.

Can't see Cardiff surviving under Neil Warnock he will struggle with premier league style of play, already dropping points at home against weak opposition. Top of the table will be between Man City, UTD and Liverpool.
