Would you consider scare pranks on kids harmless fun or just plain cruel?

I reckon it would depend on how parents prank their kids. If it's just a simple jump out and go boo type of prank, I guess that can be ok but if it was something a little extreme like scaring their kid to the point of tears while filming them and upload their horrified reaction onto Youtube, that would definitely be a cruel thing to do.

None. Its just Youtube has many scare prank compilation videos. The ones of adults getting pranked are funny but its the ones of kids being pranked to the point of being traumatized I don't find funny at all.

My family have scared eachother with allsorts over the years, from jumping out, to take spiders, to masks, all kinds of crap. It's had zero harm on any of us, we still do them now even my eldest has started joining in. Never uploaded any online though as it's a family joke and others don't really need to see it, a few have been filmed to show other non present family members, but that's as far as it would go.

little house on the praire

My son was a little shit for jumping out on me. He did it constantly. One day i was coming down the stairs and i spied him hiding so i was ready for him. So when he jumped out on me i pretended to fall down the stairs and lay there dead. He never ever jumped out on me again

Somewhere In The Ether…

Not relating exactly to specifically scaring children, but I loved the infamous, mutant spider dog prank

(Check it out on YouTube if you’ve not already seen it; it’s great fun!)

I love scare pranks. But some go to far on adults too. Such as dressing as a clown and chasing people with a machete.. thats not a prank as its too real!

Ones like someone pretending to be a statue and then moving to scare a person, thats a prank.

A prank is a scare that makes someone jump but then instantly realise its a joke, having someone make you jump then chase you with a knife is just terrorising someone

East Sussex

I have a brother quite a bit younger than me and my other two siblings. One of them jumped out on him once and he fainted. They never did it again.

I'd never humiliate my kids publicly. If anybody scare pranked me and posted it on social media I'd never speak to them again.

That definitely makes sense now that I think about
