Yes because I would then get to spend the time with my children, doing the school runs, maybe my ironing pile wouldn't be as huge as it is and maybe just maybe the house might get decorated.... Sorry you asked lol

Hiding in the shadows

If that was 'disposable' income, after all bills, expenses & outgoings paid, then yes.

If not, no.

If I wasn't working, I'd have free time to do everything I wanted & £25k would not cover half of it.

"Yes ,because after health, time is the most precious commodity!...Bored?,...not a chance!..way too much to do!

You won’t be doing much on that kind of money mate. Unless you’re mortgage and rent free

Can I live in your shed? Vacuumed first though.

Yes but you’ll have to share it with my motorbike and spiders "

The vacuuming will take care of the spiders

Not willingly. Would compromise my lifestyle and mortgage.

I would cope though.

Nope, that's still below minimum wage, living in London you'd be constantly struggling or very tight.

Well it’s less than I earn now, but I have to work for that. So £25k doing nothing is an interesting tradeoff, less work for less money.

Hmm - maybe!!! I do quite like my bed!!

Same. In fact it would be a large pay rise, and we get to just sunbathe all day

Yes, but I have the privilege of being mortgage free.

It would be a simpler life, which I think would be good for me.

Not enough. After tax etc that would cover my mortgage, council tax, gas, electricity and water and that's it.

Yes, it's more than I earn and I can't find a job I like doing anyway.

"You could earn £25k a year for doing absolutely nothing (not working), BUT you couldn't earn any other money, would you?"

No, that’s plenty. I’d live in my yurt and listen to dub reggae all day.

"No, it's not enough.

It's certainly enough to live on. But if you have big financial commitments, expensive taste, a shopping addiction or just fritter money away then I guess it might not be "enough."

After tax, national insurance and other deductions, pension etc you’d take home about a £1200 a month, not enough.

Your maths are off. You'd take home £1699 a month. Well after tax and national insurance anyway.

A lot of people live on less.

In London a 3 bed private rented house can be £1,200 a month for a crappy area."

Wow! Just done a search on rightmove for properties to rent in my area for £1,200 and a 5 bed detached 3 ensuite, utility room, double garage property came up!

Chippenham Malmesbury area

I get about that much in pension but still work 3 days a week for a similar amount as I still have liabilities and a small mortgage. So, no, £25k wouldn't be enough for me to give up work entirely.
