If you keep your builder supplied in tea and biscuits, he will go the extra mile for you that’s just logic. But I’ve done jobs in the past where some customers haven’t made us a brew, it’s rare but it does happen.

Usually we’ve asked them if we’ve gone through the electric, when they ask why we say cause your kettle doesn’t seem to be working and they get the hint !

But one bloke still didn’t get the hint and stood chatting to us while he had a brew in hand. I find this behaviour beyond comprehension.

Do you think builders should be entitled to a brew when they’re working at peoples houses, or are you one of these oddballs who doesn’t make tea for tradesmen when they’re working at your house ?

If im expecting workmen i always get biscuits in. When i had all my boiler altered they where here for days and i supplied chocolate biscuits but the guy who was in charge was a right twat so when he was around i took the biscuits away the other guys thought it hilerious

I always ask within the first few minutes of them arriving. They often say no thanks because they've been drinking tea all day. If they're there for over an hour I ask again.

If they're just dropping off a sofa I don't offer.

I do most of my own handy work but on the odd occasion I have somebody in I always make them a brew on arrival and at what I’d consider standard break times. Not every two minutes or they no fecking work done.

I have been known to make tea for builders and work men not even at my house. We had some renovating a property on my street. It was a horrible day.. So took them tea and cake

I'm paying you to work, not drink my tea

I'm usually at work myself if any trade is here so I tell them to help themselves.

I have stood there drinking a cuppa while they're working but that's because I've been at work all day and no fucker makes me a brew when I get home.

Second job in a row with no offer of tea at the minute. I appreciate when offered but never ask or hint if not. Have had some great customers over the years the odd few who would actually make us a cooked dinner every day

I’d honestly be hopeless if I had workmen in my house. I don’t drink tea or coffee, and I don’t know how I manage to fuck it up so badly, but if my mum comes down (I have a wee supply of teabags for her) she makes her own brew because I can’t ‘master it’

So I’d offer, but if they had one brew and refused another, I’d be totally understanding

How bloody entitled are you tradesmen!?!? Just because you've turned up to do work for them doesn't mean you're automatically entitled to tea and biccies.

Now if you were a tradeswoman you'd get a million offers of the above and a foot rub...

I’ve had two major lots of building work done on my house and had a group of builders in for a couple of months and I made them all tea and coffee every day they were here. Even the building inspectors got one. I always offer as soon as they get here. X

Had some builders round recently, so got the yorkshire tea, nescafe and biscuits in. I noticed one guy wasn't having any biscuits and his mate told me he was gluten intolerant, so off to Witrose I went and raided the appropriate section. He was really appreciative and genuinely surprised that I'd done that. I'm sure they would have done a top notch job anyway, but I like to think my patio has that little extra shine

One woman made the best bacon sandwiches I ever had in my life, she’d walk into town each day to buy fresh bakers rolls and must have had a special way of frying the bacon as it tasted amazing. Love a house where you get a bacon sandwich.

My Nans house you wanna go to do work. When she was having her conservatory built the men had pancakes made for them every morning, tea all day, bacon rolls, bread and butter pudding, lemon cake, all kinds of cakes.

She believes they'll do a better job if they're treated well!

I used to work on peoples houses back in the day and I never "expected" anything from anyone, its not their responsibility to feed you whilst on a job, thats why you bring your own flask. But I never would turn down a cup. I had this one lady who would bring out tea and bacon butties and soup and sandwiches every hour or so, she was awesome.

I get it all the time.. It’s the ultímate in rudeness for me. Not just builder, but any person who is doing you a service gets offered a drink as a matter of welcome the minute they rock up at mine.

And as for those who don’t offer me one, I’m getting even at the mo. Can’t beat summer boiler service in a heat wave and “turning the Heating on full blast to test” That u’ll teach the feckers.

I don’t expect one, but if you’ve been working at someone’s house for weeks or even months and they never offered you a drink I just find it strange. And to be standing in front of you while they have a brew in there hand is just fucking weird. Bet all these people vote Tory !

For me if someone comes to my house, it’s just a knee jerk thing to offer them a drink.

When the lads built my extension they got a kettle milk and sugar along with some biccies left out daily. They grafted hard and on a Friday got a couple of beers as well

Usually we’ve asked them if we’ve gone through the electric, when they ask why we say cause your kettle doesn’t seem to be working and they get the hint !

But one bloke still didn’t get the hint and stood chatting to us while he had a brew in hand. I find this behaviour beyond comprehension.

No they are not entitled to a cup of anything.

However, I always make one for anyone who comes to do a job.
