Be allowed on FAB?

This is a genuine question. Whether it be a physical, emotional or mental disability should it exclude you from having a healthy sex life and, if you choose, being a member of this site?

Hello everyone! Actress here. Firstly I am NOT airing my dirty washing in public, more gathering people's opinions regarding the subject matter.

I have slight autism and mild learning difficulties. There, I've said it. But should i have to? Does it make me dishonest if i don't? Well evidently it does. Does it mean I should be open to abuse and insults? Evidently it does. Does it mean I shouldn't be on here? Evidently it does.

We have now changed our profile text to highlight the fact I have the above mentioned disabilities. But should we have had to? They are invisible disabilities. I did not ask for them, I do not feel I should have to shout them out from the rooftops or explain them to people for fear of being called dishonest if i don't.

If when we receive a message from someone should my first reply be "Hi, thanks for your message. I have autism and learning difficulties" otherwise I'm a liar? Apparently it should be.

Or...

Should I be able to live my life the way I want without having to explain myself to everyone? That includes people on here. Yes I have disabilities, but if people can't handle the fact then it says more about them than it does me. I love being on FAB. We both do and we've met some really lovely people. But it just takes one doesn't it...

I have no problem with anyone being on here, however if their disability causes them to respond in certain ways that could be misconstrued, or to have a lack of empathy with others which may lead to not very nice responses, then it may be better to state in the first place.

Text / typing is such an impersonal and unforgiving way to communicate.

As someone who has dyspraxia (characterised as a motor learning disability, who knew?) and mild mental health problems (which is actually classed as a disability now) I'd say that people with disabilities should absolutely be on fab... however, as long as they have the mental capacity to consent and they're not, as a vulnerable adult, being pushed into being on here.

I really don’t think it’s necessary for you to state that on your profile. As you have already put on there it doesn’t make you any less lovely and beautiful so why even mention it?

Whoever made you feel like you need to put some sort of disclaimer on your profile must have been pretty horrid.

Considering everyone in the Western hemisphere has some level of mild anxiety or disorder or depression or whatnot, I don't see a problem with you mentioning it.

Also, yes; people with disabilities should be allowed on FAB.

Firstly no you shouldn't have to declare your disability to anyone.

My only concern about any one choosing to display their disability on their profile and this a general thought not aimed at any one person at all, in particular learning disabilities, or even being on FAB is that they are already to a certain extent a vulnerable member of society. Without a doubt there will be people on this site that are looking to exploit these vulnerable people and this really concerns me.

I'm sorry that you've had this experience, apparently many women and couples receive abuse, usually aimed at a personal characteristic. I hope you reported the message.

For what it's worth I think fab is for everyone over 18 as long as they aren't very vulnerable.

Anyone of legal age should be allowed on fab. Just because of a disability doesn't make them any less human. If a profile states a physical disability then you know from reading it and make your own mind up. If it's not for you pass them by. I know a couple of people with disabilities. And to be fair they're some of the nicest people you could meet. One female friend has a physical disability and she's kind, caring, and still a very good looking woman

Short and simple answer, yes they should.

Personally I think it should be disclosed at some point, either in the profile or early in the message exchange.

Other than that, I see no reason why people with disabilities should be excluded from Fab.

I don’t think many people would have an issue to be honest. I’m deaf and although it’s only partially it does affect new meets as I get used to the level or tone of their voice. They have to get used to me not hearing or sometimes automatically responding even though I haven’t actually got a clue what they said.

The only time this nearly went wrong is when I agreed to an MMF midway through sex. It was only when he shouted his flatmates name that I clicked and shut it down

There’s a space for us all here. If your disability is potentially going to cause issues then it’s only polite to give your meet a heads up. If not then it doesn’t really matter.

Just be you OP. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

People with disabilities should absolutely be allowed on here and if they don't wanna disclose it, they shouldn't have to. At least not in your profile. Maybe in messages. If someone goes quiet after you've told them then they're not the kind of person you'd particularly want to meet.

As long as the disability doesn't affect the ability to give informed consent then there's no reason at all why anyone should be excluded. Everybody has the right to have fun and a healthy sex life.

Hello everyone! Actress here. Firstly I am NOT airing my dirty washing in public, more gathering people's opinions regarding the subject matter.

I have slight autism and mild learning difficulties. There, I've said it. But should i have to? Does it make me dishonest if i don't? Well evidently it does. Does it mean I should be open to abuse and insults? Evidently it does. Does it mean I shouldn't be on here? Evidently it does.

We have now changed our profile text to highlight the fact I have the above mentioned disabilities. But should we have had to? They are invisible disabilities. I did not ask for them, I do not feel I should have to shout them out from the rooftops or explain them to people for fear of being called dishonest if i don't.

If when we receive a message from someone should my first reply be "Hi, thanks for your message. I have autism and learning difficulties" otherwise I'm a liar? Apparently it should be.

Or...

Should I be able to live my life the way I want without having to explain myself to everyone? That includes people on here. I hope you’re ok? No one has the right to make you feel like that. Most people are on the spectrum wether they know it or not. I don’t think you have to disclose any disability on profile.

This is an online site the same as any other, so you will get your trolls. I think displaying this information could lead to more manipulation.

You are who you are, and you should be it with confidence. If people don’t like it, then f**k em!! I have a birth mark on the top of my leg, should I declare that? Hell no. If that puts someone off then it says more about them.

Yes, they should be here if they wish. It's abhorrent to think that they would not be as welcome as anyone else.

People should also only disclose what they are comfortable with to others, though it can make a lot of sense in some instances, before meeting.
