FabSwingers.com forum: What do we as a Country do for relaxation/fun/to unwind?

This is a post inspired after a 2 week holiday, 4 days in Lisbon, 10 days in Madeira, and sort of on reflection of visiting family+friends in the Scandinavian countries too.

I've noticed that in these countries people are far more social and relax (usually) in a more active or healthy manner.

For example, in the Med, or Southern Atlantic Coasts, when weather allows, people go sea or riving bathing on an evening after work, outdoor sports or activities seem more common place. Obviously the good weather helps this, we have fantastic coasts and countryside here but it's hard to access half the year due to the weather, and if you do not have a car.

In the Scandi countries a popular after work practice in Winter seems to be to do some gentle exercise, follow it up with a Sauna, and then eat communally with family or work colleagues.

I just find that the idea of fun for British people is either binge watching TV, boozing, or maybe a cinema trip.

I'd ask is it just because it's grim up North? But Leeds is hardly lacking in things to do if you have money.

Is it a sub-cultural issue, or do I just live in the wrong place/socialise in the wrong circles?

Seriously just curious, the only people I see having any 'fun' in the evening are swingers on here, people at the leisure centre and kids outside.

Does everyone else just watch TV? :p
