Hiding in the shadows

Following posting on previous thread (https://m.fabswingers.com/forum/lounge/783857) last week, I thought I'd try a little experiment.

I made all but a few pics friends only & removed all my written bio.

The amount of messages I've received since has totally dropped.

Prior to that I felt I was wasting my time, skimming through them, deleting ones that without even having up open them obviously not read my profile, I've blocked several people for then sending follow up messages which weren't pleasant.

Replying to quite a few that did send well written polite messages but just weren't what I was looking for, and again recieved a few snotty replies & hit the block button

So having had a very quite week, it's been quite refreshing.

But I've also realised that I maybe excluding people that I maybe intrested in.

So taking Steel Heels advice, I'm going to try something different for a week and see what happens.

Just thought I'd set this thread up & post my ramblings about its progress....

How have the messages been so far OP? Who do you think you will be excluding and why? I didn't see your profile before, sorry.

When my profile is on show i get a good percentage of guys reading my profile. I put a lot of this down to not having any revealing photos on show. However, since my profile has been hidden i still get the odd messages winks and friends requests and the other day i got quite frankly the most bizzare non sexual message ive had on here in 12 years

Oh and i couldnt work out how i was getting messages if my profile didnt show up in searches and the only conclusion i could come up with was they where forum lurkers

Slough Windsor ish

I have reached two possible conclusions on the subject of people reading profiles, either; they read ours and take on board what I've written and don't message, or, they look at the length of our profile and think "Fuck me! She won't ever shut up! I'm not going there!"

Whatever the reason, we only seem to get reasonable quality messages and never any need for blocking.

Also something else i do i keep my pictures in private rather than friends then it looks like i havent got any. Saves guys just messagibg to look at your pictures. I know what sort of guy i want to attract and luckily my profile does that

My profile before same text as now but lots of photos on show, which lead me to believe no one read the profile, just saw the pics & messages, average 150 a day.

I hid my pics, removed text & just put "nothing to see here, move along" still had roughly same amount of views but messages went down to 10 a day, discounting friends I already chat with. Kind of enforced my theory, people only want to see pics.

I've put my old text back, but kept pics still hidden.

Views are up but that's probably becatse people have read my posts & looking.

12 messages so far today, all have been polite & well written, not the crass crude stuff I was getting before.

Sadly none met my preferences.

If I read "nothing to see here, move along" I'd assume the person wasn't meeting.

How often did you get mail from men that met your preferences when you had loads of pics on show? e.g. 150 mails but 80 men you liked. Or 150 mails and 0 you liked.

Changing the type of pics you have changes the type of mails too. Boot pics will attract different men than if you have great body pics.

I say it to all folk(often on profile advice threads) we all should look to inform entice and hopefully attract those we're seeking..

If you don't inform chances are those that aren't the any holes a goal brigade will likely not waste time messaging and move swiftly on to a profile that does inform so they can figure out if they match their interests.

I say it a lot I might be a bit boring saying it ... folk of all genders should proactively look ..

afterall you know better than any one who you're looking for ..if your profile informs entices it hopefully attracts those with similar interests ..

If folk choose to message and they've not read chances are they'll be easy to spot

2 turned out to be timewasters, sussed them pretty quickly.

I think it's like a word puzzle. Where the sentence has 'the' in it twice and people don't notice it because it's on a new line.

Update Report.

Just checking messages.. Several sent late last night, all along the lines of "I'm free now" "in a hotel near you" "I'm horny, fancy a f*ck"

So very obviously not read my profile & I automatically assume anyone sending messages like that has hit every woman in a 5mile radius on a pot luck chance.

4 telling me "you're stunning, beautiful, gorgeous, sexy" even though there's nothing in my pics to tell that by.

5 very polite messages, but all from men under 5'9" so again obviously not read or ignored my profile

Good going by 9am on Day 1!

Speaking personally, I look for women local to me and I make absolutely sure that I read the profile. You get told likes, dislikes and what the lady is looking for from an applicant.

If not, it's a waste of everyone's time.

I always message in a polite and respectful manner and monitor messages. If they're deleted, I remove the lady from my hotlist. If the message is ready but not deleted, or just not read, then I may try again after a while, because I know that women get bombarded with messages.

If you delete everything off your 'Lookin for' list it takes you off the searches and reduces mail. People can still find you from the forum or "Women online" but it does help and no need to hide your profile if you don't want to.

I regularly hide my profile.

I visit my family up north alot, I found as soon as I appear on "who's near" on a new area, I get swapped with messages.

I have no desire to meet anyone while I'm spending a few days with my mum, so I just hide myself.

Progress Update

This morning I made a pic I'd hidden public & put it as my profile pic.

Within 1hr, 27 messages (not counting existing friends)

25 deleted, 20 obviously not even read or ignored my profile, and contained text & photos I really didn't appreciate.

The other 5, again from men who wouldn't teach my arm pits.

The last 2 were in response to forum posts.
