Well here goes ... eek it’s taking me guts to post this but truth is well appreciated ... I have bad psoriasis n it makes me anxious embarrassed n self consious about it .. so been chatting to some one I thought was nice n the minute I told him bout my skin condition blocked me n before the block told me I was ugly disgusting n shouldn’t be on fab ... it takes me a lot to say bout my illness n bad skin n that’s made me more anxious n embarrassed about my condition ... so how many more people wud it put off??!

You have every right to enjoy the site in the same way others do.

You're intelligent enough that it's something that will be raised between you and partners so in my opinion for what it's worth raise it relatively early? People should be allowed to make choices but his response was uncalled for and terribly unkind.

I’m in the same boat OP....

Have had it for 12 years and I know exactly how it makes you feel.

I’ve put it on my profile stating it because if I was to ever meet with someone from here. It would somehow prepare them.

If you’re a leper then so am I... and if we should have to leave... then let’s make our own site. Start a business. And show strength, sexiness through success.

Psoriasis doesn’t define me , it’s my scars from a traumatic period of my life that I recovered from. I’m proud of my scars

I too have really bad psoriasis although currently only on one arm and both legs, but it can flare up from my face to ankles and even my lady area so I fully understand how hard it can be on here.

Keep your head held high and trust me there are guys on here that don't care about that stuff xx

Don't let it get to you.

I ended up in hospital on and off for a couple years down to skin allergies causing eczema a few years back.

Really let it get to me. Became a shut in.

You need to realise that some people are just narrow minded and ignorant . It's nothing to be embarrassed about at all.

Psoriasis is far more common than a lot of people realise. Sometimes my hairline looks like a snow capped mountain. I have patches on my torso which I can be conscious about, but I tell it " ohhh psoriasis you little prick, me stressing will make you stronger, and you ain't winning so go fuck yourself.... I don't care about you"

The person in question was a bigger prick than the psoriasis in your case, and pricks like that don't deserve your attention. Most people with common sense and half a brain cell will feel the opposite to that moron. Xxx

I'm really sorry you've encountered such unnecessary nastiness. I bet he doesn't understand what it is but even if he no longer wanted to meet (which is his prerogative) it wouldn't have killed him to reject you more sensitively. I'm guessing he lashed out spitefully through frustration but that just shows how immature he is. I *know* all the oft quoted and sensible reasons for not naming and shaming but this is one of those occasions where I wish you could!

As for putting people off ... invariably, *some* people will be 'put off' by *some* aspects of others' appearance. But there are also many more for whom slight 'imperfections' (which many of us have in one form or another) don't matter if an attraction exists in the first place. If I was getting on with someone I hoped to meet and they'd told me about a skin condition then sure, I might ask a few questions but that'd be more from the prospect of any limitations - I'd be concerned for example whether anything we might do could hurt them, make them more sore etc. And, as with any other prospective meet, would then make a decision based on how compatible I thought we were, but of course would be polite and kind of it wasn't going to go any further.

You absolutely shouldn't be thinking of leaving because of this!

OP don't let one idiot put you off fab.

There are lots of people with health conditions on fab and they try not to let them get in the way.

I have a skin condition called hidradenitis suppurativa - I wouldn't recommend googling it, the pictures are horrid. It causes very painful boil type lesions in intimate areas such as the groin and under the boobs.

After dealing with the condition for over 30 years I've got some pretty bad scarring and I can be a bit self conscious because of where they are. I choose not to meet and play when I have a flare up because it's just too painful but when I'm well I just get out there and enjoy life.

My condition has had a big impact on my quality of life for many years but I refuse to allow it to take over.

Having a medical condition doesn’t make you feel any less like wanting sex as anybody else. We all have needs, wants, desires, regardless of how ‘healthy’ we see ourselves. We’ve all got little issues that we think is more than it actually is.

See it as a good thing he’s shown his true colours before you met him and don’t let him drag you down.

I have psoriasis and the only thing that has ever happened to me on a social or meet is that one lovely guy asked me what makes it flare up ... And he was genuinely concerned/interested.

Any normal, half decent bloke would be the same

Talking about "skin imperfections"; I started to get Adult Acne last August on my face. All through my teens and 20s (when I was in a relationship) I had perfect skin and had alot of nice comments and now this happens when I am 37 and single. I'm gutted! Make up does cover it or tones it down; but I do get a bit anxious going on a social.

Blokes have been nice about it and they have said "I'm with you as a person and it doesn't matter". My personality shines through. One guy actually said "Don't feel you need to wear make-up around me". So that has all helped. I'm trying loads of treatments and watching my diet but it ain't going.

Don't let what the guy said pull you back. It's the way you are that counts!
