The classic film thread made me think about films made from good books. So here goes:

* The godfather - the film is good but the book is so much better.

* Hannibal - fantastic thriller. How could they make such a stinker of a film from it?

* Any Wilbur Smith - mix of history and fiction - great storyteller.

* Any Tom Sharpe - makes you laugh out loud, so witty. The film of Wilt was not very good.

* Any Graham Masterton - master of the horror genre.

* Any John Saul - almost as good as Graham Masterton.

* The story of O - what an erotic book!!!

* The Pearl - The journal of erotic pleasures. Another wank fest!!!

Lastly for now, till I think of more - a newish author; Any Jake Arnott (had 2 turned into tv series; he kills coppers and the long firm). Great British talent that brings the sixties alive.

Over to you......

I don't have a particular favourite as an author, love different books, usually fiction (not horror - more chick flick), although started reading Autobiographies lately.

Someone whilst looking at my books by my bed said that usually looking at them you could tell a lot of a person, unfortunately mine were of such a variety it told him nothing lol!! Although it could have been telling him that variety is the spice of life
