Carl Jung did not believe coincidences exist, more a message from the universe.

I composed a single/fab single thread here and my next meet was...... DRUM ROLL a bloody fab single. In an open relationship and a lovely chap, but alas not single .

Is the universe telling me to give up hoping to get into a swinging relationship, or merely coincidence?

Tell me about your coincidences

Somewhere In The Ether…

Random Carl Jung Fact:

Did you know that the famous Psychologist apparently possessed some form of Psycho Kinetic ability to cause ‘banging’ sounds remotely?

It is said that his illustrious friend (at the time) Sigmund Freud, was both fascinated and shocked by Jung’s aforementioned ability.

I have been singing a song to myself, then turned on the radio to discover the same song is being played.

Some years ago I was singing Bowie's 'Absolute Beginners' then turned on Radio 4 just as Desert Island Discs was finishing. The guest was maybe Paul Weller, not totally sure, but they have to choose a book to take with them. He chose Absolute Beginners, by Colin MacInnes.

In the old days of just landline phones - knowing they are going to ring.

Thinking about a person you haven't seen/been in contact with for a long time and you happen across them/ or they get in touch.

I once many years ago while driving through France had a very perculiar sense of deja vu, I described to my passengers with good detail the scene that was about to just come into view!.

It was an old broken down windmill with an old tractor next to it with a field of lilac behind it, we all laughed about it being an oil painting scene that I'd once seen and how ridiculous I was but my mum had noticed I'd gone quite pale with the "feeling" of deja vu.

Anyhow we drove on never saw anything got to our destination, the holiday passed and on the journey home got lost down a very rural bit of France (before the days of sat nav).

After some helpful directions from a local, turn right up the big hill carry on for 20 kilometres, great thanks.

Were going up the big hill and I shouted it's here.

And as we pulled to the top of the big hill, the exact scene I'd described was starring right at us all.

It was so bizarre that we pulled up in silence and all just looked. and to this day 20 years later my family still joke about me picking the lottery numbers.

Never had anything ever before or since and frankly I've got no way to explain it.

It was just bizarre and even now when recanting it makes me feel uncomfortable.

I think it's coincidence insny cases that we choose to interpret to suit us.

I know I'm always looking for an explanation or a motive. It does lead me to make connections between outside events and personal circumstances. Sometimes though the coincidence is just too strong to be ignored

Of course, you remember the one time you thought about someone and the phone rang and forget about the thousands of times you thought about someone and the phone didn't ring...

Brighton - even Hove!

I met someone I was friends with at primary school in a cafe in Sorrento. She said she could tell it was me even though she hadn’t seen me since secondary school. That was like years later.

I was working in a shop when I was iny 40s. A couple who had lived next door to my parents when I was 2 walked in and incredibly, recognised me

They must have seen me in the intervening time and forgotten. I can't believe they would have recognised me otherwise.

It only happened on one occasion, it's known as the "exploding bookcase" incident and only Jung claimed that there was anything paranormal going on.

It's true that Freud had very strong feelings abou Jung’s paranormal interests, to the extent that during one such conversation he is said to have fainted and needed to be carried to a couch

Eerily similar to mine . I was also in France ( first time , I was 14 ) . It was a driving holiday with my parents , and as we pulled in to a small country lay by area I immediately said " there's a white van behind this toilet block " . My dad laughed so I got out the car and ran around the back of the building. And sure enough , it was there , I have never experienced anything like it before or since , nor do I have an explanation for it . Fucked up !!
