"Here's a question I want to ask. If you were on a morning shift for 5 hours and did 4 hours of the shift without a break, would you still ask for a break or would you ask to go home an hour early instead?" Come home early, it’s only 5 hours.

"Here's a question I want to ask. If you were on a morning shift for 5 hours and did 4 hours of the shift without a break, would you still ask for a break or would you ask to go home an hour early instead?" Technically yes, but would really depend on the work situation. Lot's of people don't take breaks and eat/drink at their desks nowadays.

Come home early, it’s only 5 hours. " I was thinking the same as it would be pointless going on a break after 4 hours and then come back to finish the last bit of the shift

"According to the GOV.UK site, if you're over 18 you're only entitled to a break if you're working six hours+ and a break should be taken in the middle of the shift and not at the start or the end. It's only five bloody hours. ![]() Funny how in my job, I can get a break if my shift is over 4 hours

"Why didn’t you get your break today? Is your break your responsibility to fit in? Is it allocated to you? Is it that you’re short staffed at the moment for one reason or another? Does it happen all the the time or is this a one off occasion that’s no big deal and like so many other people you’ve just worked a little bit more and you can shrug it off. Let’s face it 5 hours as an assistant at the cinema is not 10hours sweating it in surgery mate. " Was only asking out of interest that's all
