"What do you understand feminism to mean? And if you identify as a feminist, would you consider yourself a radical feminist or liberal? both of these definitions are from wikipedia, however they seem to be an acceptable starting definition. Radical feminism is a perspective within feminism that calls for a radical reordering of society in which male supremacy is eliminated in all social and economic contexts Liberal feminism is an individualistic form of feminist theory, which focuses on women's ability to maintain their equality through their own actions and choices. Its emphasis is on making the legal and political rights of women equal to men." You really should do your own homework rather than coming on here and expecting us to do it for you. For top marks you really should be able to move beyond the lib fem / rad fem divide and should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the development of feminism with examples of the differneces between first wave, second wave and third wave feminism. Extra marks will be agined by demonstrating an understanding of the interaction between feminism and intersectionality, and queer theory.

"Intersectionality is the devil itself. " The concept of the devil is a classic example of the kind of simplistic false binary that intersectionality seeks to make redundant.

"Feminism is like communism. Great in theory, horrendous in practice. For who? Are you saying that from a position of privilege as a male?" For everybody. Some people have privilege, some people don't. Therein lies the distinction and I'll leave you to figure out your own painfully illogical mistakes.

It pains me when I see good people tricked into such neatly packaged sweetky served false ideas like you are with the make privilege angle. Hence my dismissive tone, apologies.

"I remember chatting to a feminist on a dating site years ago and asked her about the things where men are worse off than women and she said "feminism is about equality for men and women" her answer sounded good but I never see feminists standing up for fathers rights for example. I've also seen two feminists friends argue on Facebook over women's clothing. Some celebrity was wearing sexy clothes and showing loads of skin and one feminists said something like she's selling women out and another confronted her saying no she's empowering them by wearing what she wants. Feminism like everything has bandwagoners but the bandwagoners are loudest and makes the movement look more like a man hate club at times. " Any good politician is able to roll out the party line, kiss a baby and smile for the cameras.

I think it's fair to say that most think the radical side of feminism is a bit overbearing and don't really respect them - just as extremists in any area of life deserve a healthy suspicion. When I read the liberal definition about equality under the eyes of the law, it says to me job done. I can't think of any areas of the law where women are grossly and unfairly misrepresented. It's a positive message...the conditions for equality are there and like fab you get out of it what you put into it.

"For me feminism is a broad term with broad history. It simply means standing up for women and being proud of being a woman... that women should be heard and have an equal input into the grand debate of life... that the loudest most arrogant voice shouldn't always drown out the other voices but that a space should be made to hear a quieter, possibly wiser, voice. It would be nice if there was a comparative manism or mascunism. But us guys aren't great on gathering as groups and social engineering like that. Unfortunately feminism can be used to denote a whole range of other things from the theory that women are oppressed by men through to the pursuit of equal outcomes... all of which is utter nonsense. So, in my opinion women shouldn't turn their back on feminism... they should just call it to order and make it serve a better purpose " Did you get that from Jordan Peterson videos on You tube ?
