Mine is my dog Frank, he’s a great guy, he’s always positive, sees the good in everyone and is not easierly swayed by fads and popular opinion.

He’s sees no colour, race or sexuality, he just wants you to throw the damn stick. He’s loyal, sticks up for his mates and he will help you out whenever he can. He lives in the moment and always smell the flowers (even if it’s to smell other dogs piss).

Frank you’re the greatest, just try and stop chewing my boots !

I've had to think about that and it's not an easy question to answer.

My dad influenced me quite a bit when I was a child and teenager, but my ex husband is why I make decisions that I do now.

Probably my Fuzz, cheesy though it sounds! 18 years ago I was an angry, lost, hyperactive workaholic and he came into my life, calmed me, gave me focus and has been my absolute rock since! We've had some tough times but without him I wouldn't be the peach I am today

Hiding in the shadows

After my parents, who seriously deserved a medal for taking me on...

My middle son. Emergency CS, we both died that day, we both survived.

He's fought for life from day one.

He survived a stroke aged 4, but it left him with brain damage & physical disabilities.

He's adapted, he's thrived, he's proved everyone wrong.

He's had multiple surgeries to be able to walk again.

Today he's facing another operation.

His attitude to life, never miserable, refuses to quit, will never be told he can't do something.

It's not the life I imagined he'd have, but he's lived it well.

He's my hero

Hands down has to be my father.

He was always very hard on me when I was younger but that was due to the fact he was stressed out a lot and working his arse off.

My mother died when we were younger and he had to take over as the primary career aswell as keep up his high stress busy job.

The man deserves a medal alone for raising us in such circumstances.

Growing up he struggled with me and my brother but now he’s the one person in my life I can genuinely say I respect and look upto.

At 29 he’s probably the only person who’s opinion I really care about, he’s the person I call for advice, help or just for a chat.

Off to see him this weekend and genuinely can’t wait just to sit and have a drink with him

My eldest son, despite all the difficulties he faces in life the illnesses and almost losing him so many times he’s grown up into an incredibly caring and polite young man. Yes life is never going to be easy for him, he needs constant care but he’s my rock and my inspiration x

They're all long dead now (apart from the good lady, who is my world). Age got some, illness too young and a few in war zones.

Some truly inspirational posts in this thread - Phoenix that was beautiful and strength and respect to you and your son - hope the OP goes well today. Peachfuzz you're a lesson to us all beautiful both inside and out.

For me it has to be my Mum - she bought up me and my brother singlehandedly through circumstances that weren't the best - she ALWAYS put us first before herself and probably missed out on a lot as a result - she's my rock even today, has stood by me no matter how bad some of the things I have done have been, and more importantly has never been backwards in coming forwards and telling me just where I've got it wrong. Even at 75 she ALWAYS puts others first at her own expense and has been my inspiration for 53 years and always will be.

Thank you everyone, your comments have me a bit emosh right now.

Sadly my sons Op today was not a success, he has an extreme needle phobia, we were under the impression he would be sedated today, but on arrival discovered he was only down for local anaesthetic.

Took 30 mins to convince him to try, first needle went in, and well, he had a full on panic attack, ended up falling off the bed & crawling under it.

To say I'm fuming doesn't come close.

Now have to wait to be re refered, nurse says currently a 6/7mth waiting list, judt to be assessed.

He's already waited 5mths for today.

I'm now sat here, with his head on my lap watching Beverly Hills Chihuahua... Again.

But at least he's laughing x

Well my mum an dad have always been big influence on my life

My biggest though would been my dog duke cos when I was kid he taught me how to get in and out trouble using my cuteness haha but also when I was in high school an bullied and beaten up daily he taught me how still keep going and that the people close where the amazing people...basically made me realise family is the best thing an all ya need

For myself, obviously my parents have instilled in me my morals and values I have, however, I have had to support and live on my own from the age on 17, a few tricky situations along the way but I have got here.

It's maybe made me a bit too independent and I find it hard to ask for help when needed even from close family

Mainly parents... But also it’s that person you see in the mirror everyday, which makes you who you are, so everyday I stride to be a better version of my self than I was the day before. Because you do see results. And that’s what pushes me further and further to be the best version of myself I can be because reflection is true imagery on ones self.

In a round about sort of way i'd like to say it is my mum and dad. I'm saying that because they sent me to a Catholic Secondary school where all the teachers were the most stuck up, vitriolic, nasty and vicious Nuns you could ever come across. But when i was in the 4th year, we had a TD/Metalwork/Woodwork teacher join the school. Me and him got on straight away and he nurtured me through CSE's and GCE's. Although he lives in South Africa now, we are still friends and talk to each other every day. That one teacher had more influence on my life than even my mum and dad did, they know that as well, because they are friends with him as well..............thanks for everything Reg
