"Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Should the opinion of someone uninformed be given the same weight as that of an expert? Of course not. The problem with opinions right now is the least informed shout the loudest and cover their ears." This. Sadly, then those less informed then follow those who are good sounding I formed and lead us to worse places. Meanwhile, those with knowledge and facts are judged as geeks and seen as not thinking out of the box. Sadly I think popular opinion now forms much of what we do, rather than educated, well researched facts... Rant over!

"Everyone is entitled to an opinion whether you, I or everyone agrees with it or not... Exactly. Yeah, that’s the major flaw in democracy " I totally agree with this . People who are clueless and make absolutely no contribution to society , have as much right to influence major decisions in the society that they do nothing to further . That’s a massive flaw in our democracy which makes society what it is .

" Like those that know brexit is right or wrong because they are clever and people who disagree are stupid. With not a single lucid fact they haven't read in a pro or against propaganda sheet to back it up Short of personally knowing somebody for some time it is almost impossible to make that judgment. I also know several incredibly intelligent people who I would class as stupid, and a number of people who think they are stupid are farcreom it and trust my life to. Why modern day judging of other people without experience direcrly of them is such a very sad development. I certainly wouldn't class somebody different political views, values or opinions to my own as stupid purely because they held them. However strongly I disagree with their logic or thought processes to get there. Brexit was a very tough choice, and I can see, and could have voted, either way, voting Labour or Conservative I struggle to understand how a sane person sometimes could vote a particular way That doesn't make them stupid.

"I quite like postmodern philosophy Was that the right thing to say at that point? Postmodernism is actually grotesque and it is why we’ve arrived at the situation we are now, with fake news etc " Not at all. One of the key parts of postmodernism is questioning where claims about truth come from, and the bias/history/culture of the people making the claims. A postmodernist would dissect 'fake news', not wave it through. It's not at all about just accepting any claim at all as true, which seems to be the distorted version being passed around certain parts of the Internet.

Postmodernism pits the oppressors against the oppressed and that opened up the avenue of any number of groups, it’s not about economics anymore it’s about power. Everything to the postmodernists is about power, that’s all they are interested in. So there is no logic, no dialogue, no discussions etc So now we’ve seen the rapid expansion of identity politics, so now group identity is paramount, so they’ve got control in universities etc " Been watching too many Jordan Peterson videos on YouTube have we? Honestly though dude it's really difficult to distill what of what you've just written is about postmodernism. Maybe I have too limited a knowledge of it. All I know is that I still really like what the post structuralists had to say and that I consider it a requisite of progress and advancement to plough through that, to take it on and win, rather than to just pretend it never happened... that's the impulse, that impulse of shirking the experts, that gets us to fake news imo

"Bloody Marxist. Postmodernism pits the oppressors against the oppressed and that opened up the avenue of any number of groups, it’s not about economics anymore it’s about power. In fact, not even the only true economics - the only economics full stop. We need to be giving far more time and space to the heterodox schools

"I quite like postmodern philosophy Was that the right thing to say at that point? Postmodernism is actually grotesque and it is why we’ve arrived at the situation we are now, with fake news etc I disagree. I think that's got more to do with neoconservatism and profiling technology platforms. The core problem with postmodernism from my point of view is that it's right but we no longer want it to be. We need some clever clog to show us where it's legitimate wrong. So far no one has imo Bloody Marxist. "There's a saying that roughly translates to:- "If you want the simplest solution, ask the simplest person" and from Desiderata:- "Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story." I've found in life that even a person may appear to be "stupid", their minds work differently and they can apply an oblique approach to life and problems that I sometimes admire. "Ignorance is bliss" is probably sometimes a good thing, for some. I agree with that. Most people have something of worth to say. To be fair that’s a very egalitarian approach . I haven’t heard Tommy Robinson say anything worthwhile , nor from recent history , Peter Sutcliffe , Myra Hindley , Ian Brady , etc...... On a more personal level there are plenty of people I’ve interacted with who have never said a thing that I feel,is worth listening too .. I like the way you put Tommy Robinson in with child murderers and a serial killer!. I haven't heard those prolific motorway speeders saying anything interesting much like the Nazis who ran the extermination camps. " Nor me
