Slightly crap cyclist

The world seems to be full of cyclists who are all about speed, equipment and numbers I don't even begin to understand. Cycling clubs cover vast distances in a rush.

I love cycling but prefer a 15 mile trip stopping for coffee and time to enjoy myself. I don't even wear lycra.

Is there anyone else like me out there? Care to join me?

I have a little green bike that I bought for £45 on eBay. I spent more than that on a wicker basket,A comfy seat and a bell with 'I? my bike' on it.

It has 3 years but only 2 of them work.It also makes various creaking, squeaking and knocking noises as I pedal along.

I guess that makes me a crap cyclist with a crap bike (by some peoples standards) but, it makes me smile.

Enjoy what you do and don't worry about what anyone else thinks about it.

Sadly your a bit far away but I do all my cycling in normal clothes and I ride a full suspension trail bike everywhere, I just change tyres if I’m on or off road! So yeah, there’s people out there like you!

Birmingham

There are many who pootle, some pootle with others. Check out community cycle clubs in Brum, group rides in parks & along canals & visit the beautiful lanes around Brum...

I am the other type of cyclist that you refer to, but it's always great to see another cyclist out on the road.

If I go somewhere on foot I walk not run. I do the same on a bike I don't sprint everywhere I go steady so I don't arrive sweaty

on the road to nowhere in particular

It only seems to be this country that has so many Lycra clad cyclists hellbent on breaking personal records every time the leave the house. Everyone takes it much easier on the continent

Can't join you (too far), but get where you're coming from. Where we live, we can cycle 20 miles without going on a road, just using cycle paths. Includes pubs, shops, chippie and the beach for ice cream!

Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight

This is something we are just getting into. Pair this with an English Heritage membership and you'll be able to see, mainland trips for long weekends away will be featuring in our lives soon

I've just 're read my post and hope it didn't seem like criticism of 'proper' cyclists. I'm just keen to find others who share my hobby the way I enjoy it.

On a perfect, sunny Sunday there will be someone gorgeous (or a couple) who wants to ride together, flirt over a coffee and then maybe cycle back to mine for a shared shower....
