My Mum owned an Austin Maxi made worse by being dark brown. She kinda had no choice as we’d lost my Dad and a neighbour was selling it cheap. It was a bloody awful car though.

Micras.

In my experience, if there's someone going the wrong way round a roundabout or down a one way street, or tootling along at 20mph in a 40 zone, taking forever to park or doing something else similarly frustrating whilst being oblivious to all other road users around them, 9 times out of 10 it's a Micra. As might be obvious, they just really annoy me!

Had 5 of them over the years...first of the proper 5 door hatchbacks, first family car with 5 speed gearbox, tons of space, moved all sorts in it, including helping through 2 house moves, good ride, damn good road-holding and super in the snow.

Bet you didn't know you could change the clutch without having to remove the engine or gearbox. Try that on modern stuff.

The seats even folded down to make a not bad bed either...we've resorted to that before now when caught out by atrocious weather and low fuel.

Only let down by the rust bug, which was typical of many cars of that era.

Agree with many of the other suggestions (except for the bmw/Audi comments) but Range Rovers get my goat. Good looking cars but just don’t get them . Same with Lamborghini’s. Maybe a bit controversial but they’re way too flash and can’t help but think people look a bit plonker-ish driving one.

Renaults - some of them look better than used to - but they catch fire, leak, break down - or have 20 screaming kids in them an a driver who isn’t concentrating!

To be fair though any car that lets lorry’s pull out, sits (illegally) in the middle lane, or outside lane taking an hour to over take the next car that is 100miles up the road, are the worse cars. And it’s that time of year for it school holidays and summer and people’s annual and only time on the motorway!

"My Mum owned an Austin Maxi made worse by being dark brown. She kinda had no choice as we’d lost my Dad and a neighbour was selling it cheap. It was a bloody awful car though.

the maxi was ahead of its time in the fact it was the first hatchback and it had a 5 speed box as standard setting the standards for countless cars now"

They also had seats that folded flat to make a double bed, surly the ultimate FABmobile

Had a mk1 or mk2 fiesta that was in self destruct mode thanks to the rust issues all over it, but engine wise was good & so easy to work on. Saw one the other day & I'd forgotten how much room there was under the bonnet

"Rolls Royce, never been a fan."

Who the hell can afford a rolls Royce, not a “regular” car.

I was hoping people were talking about cars the average working person can afford like a:

ford

Fiat

Renault

Even 2nd hand BMW’s (of similar)

Goodness knows I knew a guy that owned a Vauxhall nova and drove it like crazy, no surprise he crashed it, smashed his spleen

Can’t be many of those nova’s around, especially the GTE/GTI.

Just WHY?????

Absolutely brilliant little cars

£0 road tax

£180 fully comp insurance

£30 to fill the tank which will get you around 280 miles.

Until they die in it...will not turn under breaking..."

It’s easily as safe if not safer than most cars on the road.

Never experienced any issues with steering under braking.

The Ford Mondeo. Utterly hateful pile of claptrap. Too big. Too clunky. Random things fell off or stopped working for frankly no excusable reason. It’s only saving grace was the fact that it was a company car and, ipso facto, not my admin burden.

Don't think I've owned a car I didn't like. But a family car, a 1986 vauxhall cavalier, hated it as a kid. Every journey made me feel sick. Didn't have carsickness before that car or since. Hated Vauxhall's ever since.

Permission to talk about current cars on the road?

Granted! Thanks! Haha.

Apologies if anyone owns one of these; but I do not understand the Fiat 500XL. Fiat re-invented the 500 and sold like hot-cakes as we know. I like them. But why make the icon bigger? And ugly? Although Peter Kay has helped sales... probably!! Haha.

Today I saw a bloke in a Range Rover Evoque Cabriolet. I have issues with the Evoque as it looks squashed; but a cabriolet version. It made me shiver seeing this. It will take a while to get over seeing this. You can't unsee something!

Vauxhall Corsas, just hate them with a passion. Or maybe it's just assumptions I make about the driver. Know it's daft as it's a very popular car and no doubt has a wide demographic of drivers. Just so happens a lot of the terrible and antisocial driving I have encounter has been Vauxhall Corsas, or at least earlier models of Corsa. Including the woman who hit me and forced me off the road, then speed away and claimed to her insurers no accident had occurred and it was all made up. Unfortunately for her accident damage accessor told a different story when he seen the damage on both cars. Sadly for her it was hard to claim it never happened when my paint work was found in the damage to her car.

That’s also to do with the massive design flaw in the security - one of the easiest cars to steel, and things like the X5 x3 - are the highest stolen car going, as make perfect for ram raids and so easy to steel. The police use them for sting cars because they know they’ll be nicked if left parked somewhere.

My mate had an m1 his security system recorded a bunch of teenagers, breaking into it - starting it and driving it off the drive in less than 2mins - without even setting the alarm off on it.

They aren't the fastest depreciating cars in the UK according to WhatCar's figures! Mostly Fiats, Alfa's, Peugeot and Renault! We don’t rave about the Smart but at least it has a personality and won’t be driven by a golfer

It’s just a bit of fun and makes you smile when you drive it, more so with the roof off.

As you say we all have our opinion but no BMW will drive through our gates.
