How will this work? Do we make every male and female areas like showers, locker rooms, bathrooms etc... Unisex for safety reason? Just saw a video on sky news where feminists were protesting changes to the law to allow people to self identify because they feel its a huge safety concern.

How many straight men will say they identify as a woman to get a look at a lass on the shitter?

Yawn

Let's just keep it separate.

There's too much drama surrounding it!

If the late Chuck Berry were still here, he’d doubtless be the first in line.

I think women are just threatened. Imagine those nights out where ladies get into clubs free etc... They might have to end up paying again once every guy tells the bouncers they're women tonight

I'd identify as a woman so I could win some sports tournaments. A gold medal is a gold medal.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Read through all the other threads, recent and past.

There was one about four months ago that has disappeared, following the departure of a forumite. That one turned a little nasty. I seems to happen in every thread discussing non-binary and gender identification on here. The follow-up thread is still there, I think.

What's it called? I searched gender fluidity and non binary but only found this one...

Well I'm not going to get nasty with anyone. I'm trying to imagine what the future is going to look like when gender fluidity is recognised because even if I'm not convinced on it it'll eventually be accommodated for.

All of the changing rooms in the local authority swimming pool/gyms I use are mostly unisex with a small separate male/female area.

All it means is you get changed in your own cubicle, same as unisex toilets....

To be honest if that happens men would be the net beneficiaries in my opinion

Currently men get pensions two years later than women. If all I have to do is identify as a woman then that'll go out the window.

One of the biggest draw backs of prison is that there's no pussy in there. Identify as a woman and problem solved.

No women only gyms, no women only sports divisions, No provision of favour towards mothers in court battles...

first of all, tg people have been 'self identifying' for as long as they have existed, the proposals for changing the GRA and 'self identification' are only about the process of changing birth certificates, the process which TG people have to go through to get to that stage isn't part of that. The terminology is poor, it is self registration rather than having to have two medics fill in forms (and probably charge for the service) and pay £120 upwards just to have a panel look at the application.

Is the pension age not level now? And I think all the other things will still come down to your biological make up haha although the court system should change regardless.

Not a problem for the future, all work, shopping, and social life will be carried out from your own home. So it is either already gender neutral or we just stop delivering food to those who complain

Not according to Google. We've been using the terms gender and sex interchangeably for years. So when we made womens toilets or womens tennis or womens pension then it was never envisaged that people would be jumping categories based on feelings. So now they'll have to define exactly which women references were to gender and which were to sex. They'll either be wildly inconsistent, or consistent in a way that changes nothing (I.e. oh those are all references to sex) or consistent in a way that favours men on balance (I.e. yeah those were all gender references)

equality of pension dates is already on the statutes, it will happen. The prison thing is ludicrous as most TG women are attracted to men. Putting TG women in mens prisons leads to abuse and murder - that has happened. In fact a tg woman in a womens prison is probably not much safer than in a mens prison due to the fact that there are plenty of violent transphobes in those.

You clearly know nothing of transgender women.

Also, why is no-one talking about transgender men?

Gender fluidity relates to anyone but the thread was about feminists protesting that they don't feel safe with gender fluidity

I have a theory about why trans men are rarely referenced in these discussions. It will start another row, though.

Why not just say it? In a group of adults as long as its not hate filled then you should be able to give your opinion freely. Either someone agree or disagrees.

You'd think, but my experience is that quite a few fail to behave as adults and others rip apart each sentence to twist it up their own semantic arse.

Enjoy the discussion.

Amazing number of threads since the weekend on this or very similar subjects. All of which get closed when they invariably turn messy. Less than 1% of the population are Transgender or Gender Variant to any degree. That the other 99% find it difficult to understand is no great surprise. The level of ignorance in most of the related threads is staggering though. It's not and never has been about being able to change gender on a whim. Changing your gender is a fairly complicated legal process which creates a very distinct paper trail which tracks back to your previous legal identity. It is needlessly bureaucratic for that tiny proportion of people who do change their gender. That's all that reform seeks to redress. Doesn't make for a snappy headline I admit.

So looking through the press this week , the tg woman who sexually assaulted 4 women in a woman’s prison , and was seen to have an erect penis during at least one of the assaults clearly goes against the normal tg woman’s attraction . But it’s a good example of how fucked up it all is for the average Joe who can’t get his head around if all .

So by your reckoning a tg man would go for women ? In which case a woman who loves cock could identify as a man if she were to be in prison and get as much as she wanted as long as she identifies as he , and ends up in a men’s prison .

Or maybe we should just have mixed prisons ?

Gender fluid people don't change their gender though do they? I mean on record as they feel they can feel female today and male tomorrow. I'd assume they'd want gender taken off ID cards etc....

According the to the times "up to half of trans prisons may be sex offenders" in an article about Davina ayrton, formerly David ayrton

They are pushing for the introduction of a new title, Mx to denote something other than traditional male/female. I no more know what that's like than most people know what it is to be Trans. Or a White person knows how to it feels be a person of colour. What I do know is that I can still try to respect something I really don't understand at all.

I've said it before but I think that the real issue is not whether a weird transsexual man can eventually become reclassified as a normal man or whether a weird transsexual woman can eventually become reclassified as a normal woman. But whether we can all just reclassify being transsexual itself as not being weird but normal.

I'd hazard a guess that most straight guys couldn't give a monkey's back tooth whether a woman becomes seemlessly accepted to be a man... But lie awake sweating at night with the thought of being conned into fucking a dude

Its pretty simple. When testosterone kicks in, trans men are much more successful at becoming socially less visible. As for "fucking a dude", you're thinking of homosexuals there. And being Trans is no obstacle to plenty of supposedly straight men. They don't need to be conned. Especially on Fab
