Anyway, you'll get drift of the story

This is the moment two women aged in their fifties were caught on CCTV as they stole £400 worth of booze from a supermarket – and then forgot to put fuel in their getaway car.

Rose Devlin, 59, and Denise Egan, 52, swiped £400 worth of alcohol from Asda in Chadderton, Oldham.

But their plan came unstuck when their blue Citroen ran out of fuel and they were forced to push it to the supermarket’s petrol station.

The women then paid to fill up before driving off – unaware that the whole fiasco had been caught on security camera.

Devlin, of Ebsworth Street, Moston, and Egan, of Rochdale Road, Harpurhey, were both hauled before the courts and admitted the crime.

Manchester magistrates heard how Devlin and Egan struck at the supermarket on June 6, loading a trolley with bottles of booze.

One of the women then distracted a security guard while the other pushed the trolley into the car park.

They loaded up the Citroen with their haul – which was so big Devlin struggled repeatedly to shut the boot.

She then jumped behind the wheel only to realise there was no petrol in the tank. Egan then helped push the car to the supermarket’s petrol station.
