I’m in a dilemma as to which to get. Of course I’m looking for superior sucking power but I do want the brush facility to just tease those little bits out as well and a wet vac option would also be a bonus.

I’m sure I’ve seen some comments on here before about best sucking ability and was hoping someone could help

We have a dyson and I love it. Was a big day when we bought ours - we had a rubbish hoover before but as we had wood floors, it didn’t really matter. But we have carpets now, so before we moved we bought a dyson. Amazing day. I remember it fondly

They are all the same. Get the lightest and cheapest and throw it away when it gets worn.

Dyson are overpriced and very heavy and the special cleaning ability is all hype.

Vacuum the room with a cheap make and then vacuum it again with the most expensive Dyson, and you would have to have a serious OCD problem to bother about the slight extra amount of dirt that it collects.

Hmmmm this shark thing seems to be getting a few mentions I must look into it more. Does it come with a hand tool kit as I need one that you can detach the tube to get into those tight places and have a good ole tug at the rug where it’s extra dirty

It does and they are very ergonomic, easy to change and use.

They are pretty lightweight, good, seem to be as reliable as others if not better and seem to have more for your money.

I grew up with Henry when I moved out I got a Dyson don’t rate them far over priced for what it is I think.

Shark ok pricey when it’s the same specs as the vax

I just brought the Vax Blade 32V Cordless Vacuum Cleaner last week and it’s amazing and not a lot of money and managed to get a free accessory kit direct from them and found an online code to get another £10 off win win haha

We have a dyson, customer service is spot in, 5yr guarantee, we've had lots of new parts through general wear and tear and even a new machine, the guy that comes out is a proper helpful little chap.

But the Shark starts at £190 and a Vax at £60. 3 times the price, but not 3 times as good.

Expensive but well worth it. We've had ours for 17years and it's still going strong. Sister in law has had more than a few Dyson and the likes in that time and we've now paid less over that time than she has buying vacuum cleaners.

The reason dysons "block up" is because they have effective filters.

Henry's don't block up but their filters are crap. That's why builders use them because plaster dust goes straight through them unlike Dysons.

The meile cat and dog has a powered brush head so is very effective with pet hair.

I wouldn't recommend the Dyson cordless, I think they are crap compared to the uprights, which Imo are fantastic workhorses.

Not tried the Shark, but the Air Ram isn't bad but very expensive and only performs averagely.

Of course if this was a tongue in cheek thread- am sure that they all suck
