Now that’s what I call music 100 is released this weekend, the first one I bought was 14,on cassette. From memory it had such classics as T’Pau- China in your hand, Paul Hardcastle-19 and Whitesnake - Here I go again. I played it to death, cause it was the only album I had at the time.

Did you ever buy one of these ‘Now that’s what I call music’ albums, if you did what was the first one you got ?

I got volume 2. I've always been behind the times.

Didn't realise it was so long ago. They release a new album every year.

Cardiff

Could well of been that one as well OP as I loved Tpau's song. I used to buy them all on CD up to a point. £17.99

Then after that I used to copy them, take them back and get a refund. (Not talking about that though)

The last one I remember had Jimmy Nail - Crocodile Shoes on.

I've bought plenty as gifts for others such as 'Christmas' 'soft rock' etc

Happy Birthday Now etc

Actually that reads incorrectly. The FP version was my more acute exposure to it and *stuck*.

Never bought any, but ma cousin used to get Top Of The Pops albums, which were basically all cover versions, back in the late 60's & 70's

Some of them can be worth money - there's a CD of Now 4 on ebay bidding at £280, buy it now £599. I don't think it's because of the music though, I think the cd itself was one of the first produced.

Ma cousin had loads of the damned things, but she used to piss me off by playing the same few tracks over and over again

Camberley occasionally doncaster

My parents had the original on vinyl (before it was called vinyl..just an album)

For a while they brought out a new one every few weeks. Which was basically the charts of the last 3 weeks. Never bothered with those as I had taped it from the chart show on Sunday night anyway

I looked at a recent release in the "Now" series. It seems nobody can do a song by themselves anymore. Every track was Someone I have never heard of vs Someone else I have never heard of featuring Someone I read a news story about. (Remixed by someone else I have never heard of).

Oh well. Back to the comfort of Radio 2

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

All the press coverage of this has made me feel really old. I started work and left home the year before the first one was released.

I can't remember ever buying one but I think I had taped copies of some of them to go in my Walkman.

We had those when I was growing up. Some of the covers were better than the originals.

Would it be showing my age if I have vinyl copies of at least the first 10? Cant remember at what number they dropped the pig thing?

I never bought any, but have a hazy memory of the early cover art involving pigs? Or have I imagined that?
