Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

These are the words that people have, perhaps, misheard and use in this altered form. Sometimes they work.

Utmost if often presented as upmost on here

Mine field is regularly changed to mind field.

Thing and think appear to be interchangeable.

Then there's the autocorrect defiantly for definitely.

What examples have you noticed?

A lot do and the forum is generally very accepting. Everyone is welcome.

Defiantly is a recent common alternative to definitely - I don't know if algorithms have changed, so it's now being used more by them as s 'correction', as it seems more frequent.

This isn't really about dyslexia. That's entirely different. It's about the words that have changed, and perhaps will become the more common useage.

I know it's not entirely in line with the OP's post, but the most over used word at the moment is "Absolutely" It does my head in.

Next time you see someone being interviewed on TV or the radio, just see how many times they use it, and before you tell me, Yeah I know I'm turning into a grumpy middle aged man, I can't help it.

"Stop labelling the point" was the one that made me snort with laughter. He didn't know the difference between ramekins and mannequins. "Lo and betide" was another.

Reign instead of rein irritates me.

I think it comes from people not knowing where the original meaning of the word or phrase comes from, so they don't know which to use

Eg tow the line/toe the line.

I love learning new ones, I just recently taught myself how to remember the difference between discreet and discrete which I've always had trouble with
