Saddest Movie Deaths

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

We've all had our moments of shedding tears for our favourite characters when either they or someone close to them dies in one of the saddest moments in movies. Which one always made your heart break and your tears flow?

For me, one would have to be the ending of Moulin Rouge where Satine dies in Christian's arms after succumbing to Tuberculosis. It breaks my heart everytime seeing Christian lose the girl he loved to the disease especially when he gives out a loud cry of sadness

.

I think it's more aimed at the pointlessness of how we perceive life, hence all his memory's will be lost like tear drops in the rain.

Not on the fact that all life is sacrosanct or worthy of anything special but more to do with passing his "lost memory's" on to a living person so that there not lost in the rain

That rare beast - a good Nicolas Cage film - Leaving Las Vegas tugs at the heartstrings pretty much all the way through.

Made all the more poignant by the fact it's based on a book that the author's father considers his suicide note and a record of the final days of his life.

If you strongly empathise with stuff, watch out for this one - it leaves you feeling gutpunched for days

Al Pacino’s death in Carlito’s Way...narrated beautifully by the character knowing that he’d almost made his dream life yet it wasn’t to be.

"Star Wars when Luke’s dads dies"

I think when Luke and Leia's mother(Natalie portman)die's giving birth to them at the end of revenge of the sith is sadder than when anakan(Vader) die's in return of the jedi.

Anything with an animal dying, even animated films like Watership Down, Lion King, films like Marley & Me or 8 Below, or real life stuff like Born Free.

Non animal films have mostly been covered - The Champ, Armageddon, Beaches, Love Story. My other one is Platoon, when Elias is killed & you see it from the helicopter.

Platoon is very powerful and broke my heart when I watched it back in the 80's a brilliant film that I watched again just last year

Not afraid to say I cried at this but when Will Smiths character in Seven Pounds carks it, tissues were out.
