Internet points.....likes, fabs, winks, retweets etc etc

Are we becoming obsessed with it? We can't even disappear to a quiet spot for tranquillity without posting it to Instagram for approval? Do we really need the attention to be happy?

Heck am I posting this to see how many replies I get?

Do you seek internet points?

On a Facebook app a buddy of mine messaged me and said "You have over a million points!".

I told him I'd given a few million away in buying gifts and he should look at how many the really hot women have.

They don't mean anything to me.

Studies have shown that people are increasingly experiencing a dopamine rush, just be posting on social media and anticipating the responses. Essentially social media addiction is real and rife.

Personally I'm not convinced it's such a bad thing, I think you need to factor in the quality of what's being posted. If you're excited to see the number of likes you get by posting a picture of your dinner for the 8th time this week, then you might want to take a look at yourself. If you're excited to discuss something of significance with strangers who may off insights you hadn't considered, i think that's a good thing.

By tagging people, them tagging you, sending kisses etc, giving hugs, sending and receiving messages. Any action gets you pints. As a woman on there who has several stalkers I get points quickly when I go on the app.

You can use points to buy virtual gifts.

I thought he meant pic fabs etc. There aren't actual internet points for using the internet.

"I dont even know what internet points are. I have no intention of sharing my whole life with people"

Imagine you have a good idea. How would you know it's a good idea unless you post it on Facebook and have other people you've met twice in the last 10 years, validate it for you?

You get 1 point for a Facebook like. 2 points if you write something on fab and people put an after it and 3 points if you get a retweet on Twitter.

A bit like green shield stamps, with no kettle at the end.

It's only on the tagging apps I've been on. I don't join in on the league tables on them. I don't care who has been sent the most hearts this week.

We post loads of pictures on here and allow fabs so I suppose we must seek internet points. Are they like nectar cards?

I think the net has magnified many human qualities and attention seeking is just one.
