So short story even shorter, I sprained my right ring finger at work yesterday, and I currently have a bit of a sausage for a finger. Other than the obvious (ice, raising it, ibuprofen gel etc), has anyone got any advice on dealing with it?

Strap it to the finger next to it.

If it feels hot its broken so got to hospital incase it needs resetting.

If not.... 48 hrs should settle it

Strap it to the next finger with tape.

Take anti inflammatory tablets

What the two above said, it's what A&E would do, don't waste their time if you don't have to.

Even if it is fractured unless causing significant injury or cutting off blood supply they will only tape it to next finger and give painkillers. Don't expect to use it for a couple of weeks.

Went to stop a roll of fabric falling on the floor at work, and ended up just catching the end of my finger, which bent it back and wrenched my finger and tendons. I have mild dupuytrens in my hands (shortened tendons on the lesser two fingers of the hand), so my tendons aren't the best to start with

Luckily it's my ring finger, so it won't be used too much. Might have to have a few ciders with ice this weekend, just to help with the swelling

However will I get attention if I don't play up the drama?
