...highest paid presenters are all white males, in fact the top 12 are all white males, so much for equality and diversity that the BBC is supposed to represent or is this just a case that the top 12 most talented people at the BBC by coincidence happen to be male and white ?

It must be really hard to quantify who's worth what in the "entertainment" industry. I don't know how they do it, but there must be many variables - experience, popularity on screen, qualifications, the time of day they appear, how far they live from work, how much research they do, how much of a deal their agents work out etc.

It’s probably what they’re worth to other companies, so I guess that’s what they have to pay, just unfortunate for the BBC they happen to be all white men.

It annoys us when they say they are paying the market rate. I would sooner they created stars than pay them.

If the others are so damn willing to pay that much, let them. Just have a ceiling and let the affordable and yet to be discovered talent thrive.

Really liking the idea, but Joe Public appears to be addicted to celebrity, fame and success and tends to be a bit 'meh' to newcomers.

Don't be silly. For years and years the BBC women presenters of major news, mainstream shows and headline shows. As well as black women doing those same jobs as well. All the list shows, is that at this moment in time there are no women in that top 12.

I think it’s decided by, that they’re the mostly popular with the general public, thus creating there supply and demand, therefore they can command the highest wages.

Ok, it's not coincidence. It's the fact that productivity follows a pareto distribution rather than a normal distribution, coupled with a historical context that made it harder for women and ethnic minorities to achieve their full potential. I guess most the people on that list are over 40? So unfortunately, you need a bit more patience to see the diversity picture you referenced, reflected in the stats.

People wont be happy until the year 2157 when there will be equal amounts of all races and all ages and all sexualities represented and we can only pray that at least half of them will be transgender or people will be throwing bitch fits all over the damn place, everybody will earn the exact same wage no matter what your job may be or how good or well known you are because... feelings
