World cup semi warning

To those of you who are excited about England's semi final tie with Croatia tonight here is a pre match warning...

The appointed referee is a demonic bald dwarf from Turkey who is one of the most pedantic and useless referees ever to step on a football pitch.

He clearly must have some sort of hold over Uefa and Fifa

Given his ability and the close proximity and culture of Turkey to Croatia there will be no favours for England.

I fear that those who think 'football is coming home' may have to reflect that it could have residence in Zagreb or even worse Paris.....

I hope that at 9pm tonight my warning is not founded.

For the love of Sir Bobby Moore good luck England

It is not about excuses but facts.

I do not need to make excuses as my only vague interest is that I am English, my main interest has been to win money on the World Cup.

I have until today had just 3 bets during the tournament and all have won.

Following Peru being unlucky in group games against France & Denmark I backed them to beat Australia in their last group match. They did.16/5

I had already backed Mexico to beat Germany as the Germans looked too slow and I thought Mexico had qualified with some expansive and fast moving football. 11/1

My other bet was to back Belgium at nil two against Japan with 25 minutes to go. 16/1

It's about cherry picking games that have plausible chances at decent odds.

So tonight England are younger and fitter, largely better as a team and will be favourites. I think the most likely outcome is both teams will score in 90 mins but it will be a draw. 1-1 Or 2-2.

Neither team has won in extra time or looked very likely to and so the extra 30 mins will not change things in my view. Thus the outcome will be nail biting penalty kicks.

England have won one tie in this way Croatia have won 2.

So, my bets are both teams score and draw. 8/1

Correct score 1-1 13/2

( + a saver on 2-2 22/1)

Croatia to win on penalties. 9/1

At present I show a very healthy profit and if I am wrong tonight I will eat into that a little but this match has all the looks of a shoot out to me.

I've seen far far worse than that guy last night and this is the only place I have seen bringing the ref into it.

He booked players for play acting. It went to VAN twice and twice the correct decision was given

In fairness to the Turkish ref he was not as bad as he has been in the Champions league and other world cup games.

VAR is a waste of time. It's one idiot helping another idiot adjudicate. It gives penalties but has few other effects.

It could work if amended and used correctly but as with anything Fifa does it is half arsed, corrupt or both.

Anyway I did well with the world cup. I made a very very healthy profit.
