...who loathes the term "BBW"?

I'm fat and never refer to myself as a BBW.

If I categorise my pics then I do select it but the term just makes me cringe.

Probably just me, but interested to find out

I can’t stand it either. However, I understand why it’s a vital part of the body positive movement...

Why do BBWs always say, ‘If you’re not into bigger women, then jog on !’

I’m sure you’re not.

The B for beautiful seems to be the one most find problematic as it’s very subjective. I’m comfortable with the term. I’m big, pretty (see it’s subjective) and a woman. No issues here.

Can you think of anything better. I use it as a polite term but like yourself I would say I am just fat but others take offence to being called fat so I'll stick to playing it safe.

Of course youre not. There have been numerous posts on the hundreds of bbw threads where people have said they dislike it.

Although I note that you do participate in the bbw chat threads so can't be that against the term.

I don't for a second belive I am beautiful as the acronym suggests big it is a useful label for people to see that I I'm a big lass.

I have no problem using the word fat to describe myself but a lot of people tend to use it alongside more insulting words and so it is not a popular way of describing people.

Oh and before I get accused of it..... I am not saying you shouldn't participate in bbw threads or indeed go to bbw events etc, it was just an observation

I can’t say I hate it, I don’t feel it describes me I might be big, but beautiful no. But on here it serves a purpose to say I’m a bigger woman. X

How about using the word Rubenesque ?

The word beautiful seems to be sticking point for the ladies who have posted here and I suppose you all have your own ideas of what that word means.

You all look beautiful to me, rarely will a stick thin lady catch my eye.

I don't loathe it, but I don't identify as one. When a man messages and mentions BBW I tell him he's going to be very disappointed when he sees my face and saggy stomach.

The term has become so used and normalised I think some now just a generic way of describing their size/shape even if they don't really like the the term or feel it reflects them. It's just become almost a default and no doubt lost a lot of its original meaning/intention (what ever that was).

It's just another label. I don't read too much into the terminology. Everyone knows that not every big person is beautiful. It's just a polite and gentle way to say fat. I see no issue with it personally. It's not meant as a negative, yet people take it as such. Or they feel it's condescending. I cant think of worst names to be called, in all honesty. That one is tame

I'm not too keen on the bbw label but it does serve a useful purpose on fab. It can be a handy descriptor of body shape and size and we all know the options the site gives you to describe yourself aren't great.

I am definitely a woman and I'm big. As for being beautiful, I let others decide that for themselves. After all what one person thinks is beautiful the next might think is hideous.
