When your partner says they feel emotionally distant from you, what do they really mean?

Past experiences, etc. all welcome..

Cheers

I think the fact that you've asked here instead of asking your partner neatly illustrates what they mean.

Camberley

Your partner has had time to reflect on things whilst you haven't been about and letting you know that you need to work on things.

My sister in law, did the same with her fiancée after 2 weeks in Thailand with us and they broke up for a bit. He sorted himself out by going to Relate and they seem happy again

Well, yeh, when she told me, the only thing I could think of was to ask people on Fab..

Just trying to get neutral, unbiased thoughts

How will that help?

They've told you they feel emotionally distant. It means they feel things aren't right between you. In what way exactly is something you can only establish by closing that emotional distance.

I know you want advice but truly the only way forward is communication.

It means you're heading to dumpsville. Have a chat, ask her to expand.

If you paid for the trip to New Zealand I think you already know the answer

They could meet at Greggs. Chat, and expand.

I’d say ignore all of the above and have it out. Good luck, hope it goes well

Brighton - even Hove!

It means the connection between the two of you with regard to emotions is thin and tenuous. It could break and then you’re on you’re own or you could ask to have time together and talk about it all and maybe make things a little bit better for you both.

Northampton Somewhere

It means they are falling out of love with you.

Are you married or are we talking bf/gf? You need to have a talk if you don't think your relationship can be saved and it's the latter at your age walk away and get on with your life. If you're married it's a little more complicated and you should try harder!

It is exactly what she said it is. She feels there is no emotional connection between you two.

It's possibly time to self reflect on how you talk/treat one another. Do you ever has her how she feels about things? When you talk is it just about the daily crap rather than important issues to you both as a couple? Are you distant? Are feeling reciprocated?

It's not a quick fix when one partner feels emotionally detached from the relationship, it takes a lot of talking and working out where it went wrong and how to fix it and move on. However sometimes it's irreparable, and the feelings just don't come back.

Maybe she doesnt feel connected to u becos your minds thinking about meeting other ppl on fab ! Your profile imo reads as a single mans profile . Does she know u r on fab and is fine with it ? Maybe u should concentrate more on the woman u already have

Good luck

Slough Windsor ish

Women are way more perceptive than men. She's feeling you are emotionally distanced because here you are playing around on here.

Go figure.

The fact that you are asking here not sitting down with her to talk about it says it all really.
