I would certainly say the prevalence of it, and ease of access due to the Internet, has certainly raised expectations falsely but has also desensitised people to it. I can remember in my formative years, the mere thought I might see a boob, or even touch one, would give me a diamond cutter of an erection for days on end. You find most glossy big budget film producers do the gagging & more violent scenes as they think it gives them an edge, they would do this most of the time for their own gratification rather than what the customer really wants.
