I can see a tiny flaw in that plan

I know what you mean though, wait all week, go out on a lovely day to bat on a road only to get a peach! 6 days, 23 hour's and 50 minute's to wait till you get another go.

Where as us bowlers get 6 chances an over

I'm about to play my first game in a few years.

Open the bowling, bowl loads for nothing. Maybe a wicket. Some fat bloke will drop it, the batsman will snick it and just stand there. The umpire will be their captain who won't give a single LBW.

Yet you know our team will trigger every one of us.

Every other over stood on the boundary bored thinking 'why am I here', 'why are we fielding at 3pm look at the sun'.

why have I finally given in, said 'yes I will come out of retirement when there's qtr final football on' - such a school boy error. I retired when Wales were in the Euros (how ironic)

no Friday night rain card, it looks sunny as fuck.

I'll probably open up with 7 overs, for nothing. Shit Pete will come on after me, bowl pie after pie and pick up a 5 for.

Fucking bandit. They are my wickets. 20 years of that. Day light fucking robbery.

Teas. The fat opposition are going to dive on it like rabid seagulls.

Cheese sandwich, kit kat and a fucking bag of cheap as test crisps all washed down by the cheapest throat itching squash you have ever tasted. Probably clean the tables with it.

Then I'll have to score for 35 overs. Watching our boys nudging it for one. It's okay lads we need 10 an over. I'll go in 10, need 200 off the last 5 overs being told to 'play your natural game'.

My natural game ain't cricket.

We lose, the fat opposition run around like they've just won Greggs vouchers.

There's 1 shower and the opportunity captain forgot to put the heater on so it's cold.

An hour later your dry. Half your kit is missing, your getting nagged for match fees but your wallets now somewhere in the world's biggest kit bag.

You make it out the changing room and now the Fat Home XI are trying to get £2 out of you for a warm can of 'bow. If you don't oblige you will probably end up getting stabbed.

The day started at 11am for the away game, you get back to your club at 9pm and ya mates are like...

How did it go? Bet you loved? See, we all said you wouldn't burn your kit.

Wish I did.

By Tuesday I make myself available and go through it all over again except next week is home and some prehistoric club member is going to take it upon himself to try and give me tips on how to bowl.

I really do love hating this game

I've had scuffles umpiring so I won't do it anymore.

First ball 'PLAY'.

Hits pads, not in front of wicket. Tubby Thomas turns and screams...I'm like 'not out' (I probably wasn't looking knowing me).

Ooooohhh next time lads next time.

Very next ball. Pads again.

Everyone goes up, even the old cut with the dog sat on the bench.

HOWWWZAAAAAAAZAAAAAAAAAAA

ITS GOTTA BE.

Why cos the first one wasn't?

Not out.

Look out I've just created WW3.

I've turned down to LBWs in succession. No way. How is this possible.

The law of fat shit cricket says if the first one ain't out the next one is.

What's happening now though. Fatty bowler, fatty skipper at first slip and the wicket keeper are all having a chat.

You got 15 seconds to make the fake T and ask for a VAR appeal.

But guess what, you haven't even got a proper kettle so like duck can I go to the 3rd umpire on this.

Fatty walks up.

Why not ump?

Cos I said, now fuck off and get back to bowling shit again. You won't have to wait long my mate down there is shit anyway. Just bowl it straight.

The end of the over comes and fatty rips his jumper out my arms as if I was going to steal it from the school lost and found.

Rest of the day I'm the only one getting sledged.

I've seen more fights in cricket than any other sport.

I got wacky ideas.

get rid off offside in football. Get rid of LBW in shit level one day cricket.

We can all live happily ever after again

"What's your opinion on cricket personally I play a bit of test cricket for the rugby/cricket club but I don't like watching it "

I dislike cricket with a passion.

A game can go on for two weeks!!. 9 days in if you ask who's winning "oh it's too early to tell". Nothing really happenens, most of the time cricketers stand around scratching their arse holes and chatting.

If you ever looked at the spectators that pay to see this tripe they're always knitting or reading a book just to stay awake if they haven't already dozed off. If a match is rained off they just wasted a day.

There's only about 4 cricket teams so it's no bloody surprise if England or Australia win.

And the ashes!!! Everyone bang on about it as this amazing trophy when it's actually a replica of a trophy that was destroyed in a fire. The real trophy is sealed away behind glass like some sort of shrine and only it's the base is left. So what they hold up when they win the "ashes" is a replica owhatvis left which is the base, this is why it looks so small when it's held aloft.

Waste of time.

Don't get me started on marzipan

"Haha, tbh he's the captain plus he's been carrying RCB this year with the batting. I think we can allow him this one. Moeen Ali though... What an innings!

Hmmm don't think Russell will, too many runs for him to stay there till the end!

It was a major knock from Mo

But Dre can be devastating

Are you both watching the cricket?

Yup.. is that bad.

Haha if Rana and Russ stays in then KKR have won just saying lol.

You guys should play a drinking game for every six being hit, but you both may be smashed at this rate

Don't want to get TOO smashed "

Haha pm me your favourite team atm

Congrats Mike! Finally done decent weather! Cricket matches for me are starting soon. Usually they are from 12-8pm, if lucky some may finish quickly and I'll be able to get to a club haha

Definitely the Ashes, I think everyone knew about that. Freddie was in the papers if I recall correctly.

Been RR since the start of IPL but we're not doing that great unfortunately compared to last year. Yes, think Bairstow is coming home but he's had a fab start to his IPL career. Him and Warner are lethal opening!

wolverhampton

Saw a great game at Edgbaston today that ended in a tie. It was quite something to be sat in the sunshine watching two well matched sides.

This year I have tickets for 3 World Cup games including a semi and 5 days of Ashes cricket. It’s cost a small fortune but as a cricket nut it’s money well spent.
