Folks I’m in a job I hate. But it’s only 2 mins from my house. I’ve been offered another job which is 1 hour away! Decisions!

We spend too much of our time at work to be doing something that we hate and which makes us miserable!

Last year I was in a job I hated. Was enduring workplace bullying which they wouldn’t address and it was causing anxiety and depression. Eventually I went to my gp who signed me off sick and I never went back. Spent my time job hunting and took great pleasure in handing in my notice and telling them why I was leaving.

Ultimately, you have to do what is right for you

You have to do the pros and cons thing. Will the journey still be an hour in the winter? Does that factor in rush hour traffic? Even if it’s an hour you might love the job, love the place, make new friends. so I guess it boils down to how much you hate your current one.

Go for it..

We work to live not live to work..

Lifes too short to be in a job you hate

It shouldn’t even be a decision. You’re in a job you hate. We spend most of our lives at work.

Agree with all the above OP. If you don't like something then why put yourself through it. An hours travel is nothing for a job you enjoy.

Take a leap of faith and make the change.

Good luck!

Say it wasn't a work and it was a shag and you have to shag 5/6 times a week.

You can either shag the one you don't like who is 5 minutes away bit boring and smells a bit OR drive an hour away for an amazing shag with greats tits and nice bum?

Choice is yours

This is what’s happening me. One guy ( my direct manager) is a nasty piece of work. I’m suffering mentally with it

Why do you hate the current job?

Do you have any ties stopping you move house (e.g. kids settled in a school?)

You cannot live and work in a situation that is causing you mental suffering.

Change job and enjoy the commute, use the hour to read, write or listen to a radio show or music (depending on your mode of transport) and embrace the change.

. If you hate your job 10/10 take the new one looking at your profile to see your age you are young enough to change your job another 10 years and it won’t be so easy.

I am finding the work difficult.

The role is out of my comfort zone and my direct like manager whom

Was not involved in my recruitment is not understanding. So

In turn I’m

Feeling the pinch.

But the job isn't inherently bad then. I'd say you need to consider the trajectory you are improving at and the opportunity cost of moving. Don't commute one hour, that really does suck.

You spend about a third of your day asleep, a third of your day at work, and a third of your day being you.

If any of those isn't working as it should, the quality of your life suffers.

You shouldn't stay in a job you don't like. It's not fair on yourself.

It's two hours of every work day that you wont get back.

Is it worth it financially?

If the answer's no then keep looking.

An hour commute is probably average these days. You'll have less time but be spending 40+ hours a week not somewhere you hate.

Unless it turns out to be worse.

I'd go for it personally - it's not worth being somewhere you're not happy if you have options.

Good luck from us both, follow your heart and hope it works out well for you.

We had a guy leave us to take early retirement, even moved to a new country, a year later he has come back and asked for his old job back.

Guess we are doing it right then?
