Think about what you would like to read on someone else's profile.

I like if someone writes just a snippet about their hobby or goals so it leaves more for me to find out.

I also really like when they write something with humour, it shows their personality but don't write anything sexual as that is a massive turn off on dating sites in my opinion.

I'd suggest not making it too long, and focusing on a few interests/points that give insight into your personality

If it's a man you're looking to date maybe set your profile out like a Haynes manual?

What you're like as a girlfriend, one spanner for easy going, 4 spanners if you're more difficult and high maintenance.

Enough to spark open ended questions, your passions and dreams that can be asked about. You want a bit of intrigue and mystery though as part of dating is discovering more about your date, the best dates IMHO are those where you learn something new rather a feeling of syncronisity and serendipity. But as has been said be honest

It's mandatory to include the quote: "If you can't handle me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best"

You also need to mention how much you love gin/prosecco [delete as applicable]

Don't write anything date site related what you want/offer, all the usual trash. Just write a few random type thoughts and see who resonates with it.

Thats what I would do anyway.

You be open and honest. Give people a slice of your soul. Don't go into it for the pure intention of selling a version of you that you think will be popular. Present a side of you that feels true to you. After all it about finding someone who is a fit for you and who will find beauty in all your quirks, flaws and mindset.

Ok. So you've obviously got to write something that gives people insight into the most important essence of who you are. If you're really hippy you don't want to be going on about your corporate career because that's not really who you are. So try and boil down some key words that hint at your character and values.

Secondly, unlike on Fab, you actually want to attract guys to write you engaging and alluring first messages (on Fab you're just looking for "faf" and a cock pic right? ). So try and weight your profile with slightly more novel comments that might help start a conversation. For example, if world travel is likely to be a good common ground for a future relationship perhaps say "I love travel but not sure if I've got it in me to backpack around China again". This obviously offers a way into talking with you by enquiring about your time in China. See what I mean? Hints at conversation starters really help start conversations (who would've thought eh?! )

But all of that is still a naive way of approaching it. Want to hear the next instalment?
