Dont feed pouches. They are what make cats put on weight

Dry food or chicken or tuna.

I know those things are expensive, so maybe try cutting down on pouch meals

Then you may need to set scheduled feeding times and remove any uneaten food inbetween times. You can also get low calorie/ diet pet food.

Get a cat lead and walk her, it may be that to begin with its more of a drag than a walk but she'll get used to it.

cats do get lazy as they get older. I think 10 is classed as senior in cat years. Is she very overweight.

If shes just a bit podgy might be worth taking her to the vet for a full check over to see if its doing any harm. If not i wouldnt worry to much. But if shes very overweight the only way would be to keep her in a seperate room from the other cats food

I think you might already know the answer to the problem, if you have a gutsy over weight cat and thin cats and you leave food down.

You need to stop the fat cat having access to the other food.

If you can, try and separate the cats when you feed them. Do you just have two? Put the slim cat in a room on its own with a plate of its favourite food. Let it feed for a while, then take that food away and put the diet biscuits in another room for the fatty bombalatty cat. They'll both get used to this routine in a few days.

Most cats get lazy & overweight after being spayed or neutered, have you tried the old feathers on elastic/string attached to stick, most cats will go for that as its a 'bird' which is prey, make her chase that and tire her out completely, that and measured dried food, iams etc....good luck

Just like humans, the only way for cats to lose weight is diet and exercise. This means either separate feeding, no opportunity for stealing food from the others and no free feeding. On top of this getting them playing more will help with the exercise. But, it’s harder than you think! Cats have their little routines and can get rather upset and stressed if you change things.

Our Felix is overweight, his nickname is Fattypuss McCatticus he doesn’t seem to have an off switch with food and we suspect it may be because he was stray for a long time and ate whenever the opportunity came along.

Making the changes to help them lose weight is a case of tough love, it’s just as hard for us to be mean as it is for them.

Buy a microchip controlled feeder. You can program the chip details of the cats into it and it will only open and allow certain cats to feed. You can set it so that only the fat one have access and then you can leave your routine the same. They are expensive but do work

OP what type of toys do you have? There are quite a lot out there that can encourage cats exercise. Mine love anything that moves and makes a noise. Their favourite is a tissue paper grass mat which is surprisingly robust. It is inexpensive and can be bought from a well known auction site. Also, cat trees and specially designed toys that brings out their hunter instinct can be very effective.
