"Well done on the loss mate. I had a similar issue and lost weight. I came from a 42 inch waist to a 32. I'm petrified of getting big again and I've been told that I have body dysmorphia as I'm never happy with it and always think I'm fat. It's normal to feel like this after losing so much." "Well done on the weight loss Excellent achievement. But just becareful. Believing you are fat when you are not can lead to disorders such as anorexia. Maybe concentrate on toning up rather than weight loss. Set a goal, hit it, be happy with it." Thanks pal, I really appreciate the advice. "So back in 2016 around February I decided enough was enough and it was time to lose the extra and unnecessary weight I had put on over the years. I was almost 18st and XXL was the norm when it came to clothes shopping (which I always dreaded because, although I love nice clothes, nothing ever fit me or I could never get the size I needed). I started by having fresh fruit shakes in the morning and salad for lunch and a light dinner. I used to take small walks every evening and I also did 20 sit ups and increased this to 40 and then 60 as the months went by. By the end of August 2016 I weighed 12st 7lbs and I was really happy. I felt great, everyone commented positively and my confidence in 6 months had grown. I've maintained my weight well ever since and now I currently weigh 12st 12lbs. The only thing is is that I still look in the mirror and think I need to lose a tiny bit more. Everyone I know says I don't need to lose any weight, some say I need to put some on. Is it normal to still look in the mirror and still think you're that big version of yourself even though I've lost over 5st and have moved from XXL to medium and 38in waist to 30/32in waist. Any words of advice would be helpful as would some of your weight loss stories. Thanks in advance all. "I lost 12 and 1/2 stone. I had a terrible time for ages as i still saw the fat body in front of me. If you have close honest friends trust them. Mine started to tell me when i was going a bit to far" My close mates and family all say not to lose and more and that I am not fat. I used to think they used to say it just so I don't be harsh on myself but now I'm realising that I'm not overweight but I'm just a bit critical of myself lol. | |||

I was chatting to a woman in the changing rooms of the pool we go to. She said she hated herself and meant she hated how she looked as she'd been overweight since she was 7. What I saw was a well groomed woman, with a good eye for colour and nice clothes. What she saw was a fat woman. I don't know how you change that mind set but is it worth years of self doubt and low self esteem? | |||

If say someone's purley going on aesthetics then the eyes is mostly what you got to use. Take pictures as you go along, so the difference is visible, but if people need something to measure, then measure body fat percentage | |||

"When a lot of people lose weight, that have been overweight for many years... it takes a while for your brain to catch up. Ultimately you’ve hit your goal and your pleased... but you still visualise that overweight person in the mirror . Look at the positives you’ve achieved... weight loss, fitness, healthier skin etc. It’s all about mindset. There are changes you can make without losing weight. You could start resistance training to build some lean muscle, this would help ‘tone’ you up. Be proud of yourself! " Thanks, I'm very pleased with my achievement | |||

"All the magazines and everything encourages us to lose weight constantly without any consideration for being healthy. I had to give up on dieting because diet culture caused me an eating disorder and seriously bad relationship with food. Be careful and make sure you focus now on being healthy and loving your body at whatever size/weight." Thanks Rach x | |||
