Hard to choose between the 70's & 80's for me, but I'm a Rock & Blues man, don't really care for chart music as such

They all did!! Whilst there's a great temptation to say the 80s - just remember it's the decade that gave us abominations like Stock Aitken and Waterman, There's No-one Quite Like Grandma, countless "novelty" records and other such rubbish - good music is timeless and comes from all decades right up to the present

I think it more likely the decade in which you entered your teens.

Such a formative age for many things.

Well unless you then waited until you were 53 to go clubbing, it is likely to have been the same decade!

the 60s.so many brilliant acts came out in the 60s and so many timeless classics.80s had it good moments but far too much crap and novelty songs to be a truly great decade you can blame stock aitken and waterman for most of them.the 70s brought us many great singers too but quite a lot of novelty tunes.no point mentioning anything post 2000 as the majority up to the present day has been worse than pathetic

There's plenty of current music that is decent it just doesn't tend to make the singles charts - but to name a few decent acts currently making good music - Biffy Clyro, Green Day, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Muse, Madness (yes Madness!!), Foo Fighters, Noel Gallagher and a good few more

Didn't most of the hit the charts pre-2000? Sort of supporting the original claim!

Not really, many people don't really go clubbing until they are 18/19/20. Some 5 plus years after they hit their teens...

Yes they did but the music they are making now is of this time and therefore part of the current decade

To use another example you wouldn't write the Rolling Stones off as purely a 60s band when they had hits in the 70s, 80s etc

It samples from Madonna - Holiday.

I spent my 21st dancing with her, she was singing it live, judge Jules mixing both songs.

Then it came out over here and was the song of the summer

I became a teen in the 90's and I'm usually quick to dismiss the music but it did give us Britpop, the rest was pretty poor.

80's is probably my favourite but I enjoy music from the 50's onwards, newer stuff all sounds the same after awhile, or I'm getting old...

As a teenager in the 70's that should be my "age" of music. It isn't though.

I just love music, so for me if it's good and well recorded and i like it, then that's all that matters to me.

The specific works for the 1870s are:

Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 in B flat minor

Smetana Ma Vlast

Grieg Peer Gynt Suite No. 1

Verdi Requiem

Widor Organ Symphony No. 5 in F minor

Tchaikovsky Swan Lake

Brahms Violin Concerto in D

Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D

Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition

Verdi Aida

Bizet Carmen

And they had to perform live and read music every performance.
