Hi everyone.

I just want to know how people cope after a break up.

Me and my wife split up months ago. Then the last few weeks we been seeing each other again then out of the blue yesterday she said she just wanted to be friends. But i dont think I can do the friends thing. As we were together 15 years.

Last night I had to get pissed to try and for get her.

From one who has been there recently, getting pissed isn't an answer, as the issue will still be there in the morning.

As hard as it may seem, life goes on, and you have to start making a life of your own, it's emotionally as painful as fuck, but you will get there, believe me, it takes time.

You will get there

Getting d*unk is not the answer.. it only mutes the problem for a while.

Going back and still having sex with your ex is not the answer either... they are called ex for a reason.

No one can really give you advice on how to cope, we all have different coping mechanisms.. throw yourself into work, find a hobby, do a garden makeover.. anything where you are concentrating on the job in hand and not your ex...

It may not seem like it now but one day you'll just wake up and the weight of the world will have gone from your shoulders. You will feel nothing but indifference towards your ex.

Talking also helps, I have very good friends whom I could call at any time.

Time is the best healer.

I concentrated on work and cut all contact.

I focused on enjoying freedom, no explaining or asking.

Worked for me anyway

Going through it well have been for months... honestly there is no quick fix or magical cure for heart break... I’ve had a double whammy over the 18 months. My heart is sooo fragile now!!!

All I can say is you just have to ride it out.. and at those darkest moments when the pain is so intense you can breath don’t think about tomorrow... don’t even think about the next hour just concentrate on getting through the next minute..... and breath... that’s all you can do is ride it out...

As for the constant thoughts and analysing things.. again if you have some close friends who you can txt or rant or cry to at those moments then let them be there for you!! I’ve just had the one friend who has been there day or night... through my darkest and some of my highs.

See friends and family as much as you can! Or whatever you can do to distract yourself even if just for an hour. But you have to go through this to be able to heal....

No matter what you WILL get through this.. it won’t feel like it.. but you will and when you get there... cling onto the sunshine and the life that is waiting for you!!

There’s no magical cure for it, I’m going through it now and it’s bloody hard. Just have to face it head on and accept it’s going to hurt but that each day it hurts a bit less. Talking to friends helps as well. X
