The last 3 nights that's all I seem to keep getting on ma tv at night, it's perfectly fine in the day. Even re-tuning has only a temporary effect until the channels disappear one by one again. There's not a blinkin' cloud in the sky ffs

Nah, the set is in the shade. There's a couple of other people in this block that I've asked and they're experiencing the same problem. We all share a communal aerial that is right above my bedroom window.

You've arnsared your own question.

Believe it or not but it is true. Wen its a clear sky the strength of the tv signal goes down as the radio waves have nothing to bounce of from so a lot are lost in the sky. True fact.

Yeah, but this doesn't happen every time it's a cloudless night, and why does it only happen at night? I get a perfect signal during the day.

a quandary, could you change my mind?

Could be cable creeping, it warms up and moves, cooling down it moves again and can loosen connections, check as many as possible.

The truth is that the current heatwave across the UK is causing problems with signals.

It's all to do with atmospherics and their effects on weather patterns & electronic signals and equipment!

There's little you can do till it blows over. There were terrible problems at the start of this week here in the South Midlands but it only lasted a couple of days and its returned to normal now!

I've already got one of them, but what Gen says seems to make sense.

Still can't see why it only happens at night though?

You can get some channels, but not others. I'm watching BBC4 at the moment, but can't get it in HD, so I doubt it's anything to do with that.

The info I gave you was as supplied from our TV installer; some of you on here will know I'm part of a Hotel Management team. It was an enquiry to the engineer who installed our Freeview system yrs ago which produced the answer I gave. But, the issues arise more often during hours of darkness due to changes in weather fronts and other factors.

Nice one, I used to have Virgin, but there's no cable on this side of the road and I'm buggered if I'm going back to Sky, so I suppose I'll just have to lump it until we have a good old thunderstorm

The Onley other thing i can think of is eather thay are doing work on your local tv marst or the Freeview box in your tv is not working properly.
