I am off to America in August, and will be renting a car.

Do I need an international drivers licence, or will my UK driving licence be enough?

Thanks.

You will definitely need an international driving license. There isn't a chance on earth they will allow you to rent one without one

Haha. Send me on a wild goose chase when it comes to meeting up. Not for a genuine question!

The US has an agreement with the UK whereby a full and valid UK driver's licence permits vehicle rental in the States, you will have to have held your licence for over a year.

I had no problem renting a car in the USA last year without just a UK licence

Morristown

I travel a lot and the only place I have difficulty renting a car is here at home. It's something to do with having to call the DVLA to check endorsements. I jokingly offered my Saudi license last time and the clerk accepted it with relief. You can't make this shit up.
