Well as I’ve posted about knee operation a bit am sore if it bores people but this is my only way to release at present time and actually have chats with people.

So since the operation on 7th I’ve gotten stronger and better at moving my leg and completing physio loads even getting excited cos I managed to move from living room to garden and enjoying the sun ??

Well that changed Sunday night when goin bed I got bad cramp in calf and stumbled causing loads pain.... had go back hospital yesterday due to pain and lack of mobility/movement and concerns the fracture was worse or screws keeping knee stable failed.

Luckily that’s all ok but the cramp has highlighted I am only 2 weeks revovered and need take slow and steady Hence the title of post as it’s knocked my confidence and feel am back we’re was post operation needing help lift leg and stuff

Sorry to post an moan just needed get out as am all emotional an stuff

We all need a moan every now and then. Just give your body time to heal itself, hopefully that won't be too long for you.

"We all need a moan every now and then. Just give your body time to heal itself, hopefully that won't be too long for you."

Well main part of operation was to fracture my tibial bone and the screw back with a grafted piece of bone... so fractures take 6-8 weeks and bone needs to fuse together to make it work

So cramp just highlighted injury and my own level and capabilities at this moment, But if don’t push it also would mean another operation to release joint if fuses wrong so either way is frustrating

Sorry to hear you're going through this, it can be very depressing. My nephew had a nasty car accident and snapped his femur, broke his kneecap into 4 pieces and broke his ankle. Long recovery and he was given anti depressants to cope with the situation. Physio and exercise is key for a quicker recovery. Good luck

Thank you - this was a long term running injury and it was either life long knee pain and restrictions to movement and life or operation and have short term pain for fix and good life and outcomes

Last 2 weeks been great as mobile and improving but cramp and stumble aggravated leg muscles and bone... consultant after X-rays said all ok just recovery pains just a shock and knock of confidence

Thanks for the kind message

Well at least you are back on the right road and you will be so glad and will forget this part, when you're up and 'running' again!

Are you the only one in your property?

So much harder when you've only got the four walls to listen to your problems .

Be ruthless with the physio, don't give up. I've a couple of pals who've had motorcycle accidents. Plates and screws in their legs but you'd never know it.

Good luck to you.

sorry to read of your problems. I suffer a lot of cramp but find that Magnesium pills taken regularly reduce frequency. People also recommend drinking India Tonic water (contains quinine) which may be quicker acting. Immediate relief is best achieved by applying a cold compress - eg flannel soaked in cold water, or flannel wrapped around an ice block &/or standing on a cold (bathroom may be) floor.

The hard part is getting the balance right. You're obviously normally a fit person, so the desire to get back to normal is profound for you. Listen to your consultant so that you keep moving forward

Nephew had about 10 free swimming sessions, really helped his mobility, he then done a bit of gym work on his leg as he lost so much muscle capacity. We found nhs physio wasn't great, so he went privately to a sports physio, who the family use, he done it a bit cheaper,as they are regulars.

Moan all you want mate. If it helps relieve your stress it's all good.

I was on virtual bed rest after my hysterectomy, for a couple of weeks, then gradually doing more up to 8 weeks. I still couldn't vacuum or carry heavy shopping after 10 weeks.

It's boring as hell sitting still for weeks, and being in pain makes it harder.

Rest up though and I hope you get better quicker

Sounds awful, and I know how frustrating it is to be sitting down all day, as I broke my leg last year and I thought that 6 weeks were bad enough, jigsaws puzzles can pass the time! And I can recommend Peter James books, I knitted a lot but don't suppose you want to do that

And glad today is a good day

Brighton - even Hove!

Trauma to your body will take quite some time to recover and as you do so you might get something called maladjustmenta where your body stance takes the line of least pain and resistance but in turn can lead to other problems. As above poster said, keep up with the physio - it’s inportant to keep your muscle tone and range of movements good. Take the opportunity of enforced rest to read or paint or catch up on movies. See it all as the ending of one period on your life and a beginning of a new one. You can always offload on Fab! Good luck.

I crazily work in orthopaedics so know about maladjustment so making sure I force myself not to be so easy and push self no matter what to do physio regularly which at this stage is very limited to calf work, pushing knee down to cushion and clenching buttocks
