WARNING TO ANYONE TRAVELLING ON TRAINS TO WORK.

The heatwave expected to sweep across the UK could throw the nation’s railways into disarray, with operators warning that tracks could “buckle” in the soaring temperatures. Network Rail has already introduced temporary speed restrictions on some routes in what it said was “a bid to keep trains running, albeit more slowly than normal”.

Read more at: https://inews.co.uk/news/heatwave-rail-warning-trains-cancelled-hot-weather-tracks-buckle/

Hope nun of you get stranded. And keep hydrated in this hot wether.

"If your travelling this week have at lest a 1L bottle of drink with you at all times. "

Why? You do know this isnt a third world country? You do know your rarely far from a potable water source, usually from a tap! The temperatures are barely in the eighties. When did we start panicking because its summer? You wont die from dehydration in this country, especially sat in a train nevermind un a traffic jam.

To be fair though, livestock being transported usually means a one way trip to the slaughterhouse. At least train passengers have a slightly higher chance of survival

It would take 3 days or more to die from dehydration and I doubt a passenger train would be left for days without any assistance coming. Most trains have a trolley service (with drinks) and toilets with water in the taps.

So your advice to people, maybe even the elderly who might be catching a train, is don't be prepared - if you start feeling thirsty just wait and pay over the top pricing for a drink or even visit a skanky toilet and put mouth against a tap that has been used by god knows how many people who haven't washed hands. Excellent.

I don't think it's stupid advice to carry water of there is risk of delay to your journey. Trolley services (if they exist) are not infinite supplies and neither is the tap water on a train. Depending on how busy the train is it could run out quite quickly.

"If your travelling this week have at lest a 1L bottle of drink with you at all times.

Why? You do know this isnt a third world country? You do know your rarely far from a potable water source, usually from a tap! The temperatures are barely in the eighties. When did we start panicking because its summer? You wont die from dehydration in this country, especially sat in a train nevermind un a traffic jam.

So wot if you wos on a train and it brok down cos of the heat in the midall of nowear ?

"

Or on the packed tube that gets held at West Ham station, with the doors closed because the platforms are closed? People keeping over with the heat; one man having a heart attack and no trolley service.

"So, how many were rushed into hospital with heatstroke and dehydration today??

Fucking none.

A British summer is 3 hot days and a thunderstorm. Calm the fuck down people. You dont know what heat is. "

I guarantee you there will have been many admissions for both of the above. And we’ve had several weeks of lovely weather now with plenty more to come so you are wrong on both counts. I think the heat is getting to you.

So your advice to people, maybe even the elderly who might be catching a train, is don't be prepared - if you start feeling thirsty just wait and pay over the top pricing for a drink or even visit a skanky toilet and put mouth against a tap that has been used by god knows how many people who haven't washed hands. Excellent. "

I'm elderly, retired, from a generation that used common sense. So when I had to take a train on Monday I put on cotton clothes and carried a litre of water with me.

My home to Guy's hospital, including one mile walk to the station thirty minutes. It was hot and believe it or not I didn't need to be reminded to take water and I doubt anyone of my generation did either.

Too much nannying.

Then perhaps they need a practical lesson in what happens on a hot day. Its hot you get thirsty, you have a drink. Its not fucking rocket science and I dont need a man from a ministry to remind me to drink when thirsty.

As for carrying around a litre of water. Really? A litre?

I worked in the paper industry for over twenty years and the atmosphere in the machinehouses were as hot and humid as any sauna. Heat exhaustion and dehydration was rare and we were WORKING in it. How did we manage? Tea mainly! When did we become such a nation of gormless cunts that we need to be told to drink when its hot. The world really must think were stupid.

Quite the opposite, I prefer the heat and know how to work in it. You shouldnt need to tell an adult how to "survive" in temperatures that are hardly scorching. Makes me wonder how they survive on holidays.

Did the heatwave just suddenly occur when the train set off? No. A heatwave is by definition, a raised temperature over a long period of time. Why are people suddenly so incapable of looking after themselves? I just hope they never go anywhere near the equator...tgey might burst into flames.

Why don’t you stop being a jumped up little prick and just see the post for what it is, a light hearted warning about the trains possibly breaking down. Seeside is a bit of a train buff and he knows his stuff with regards to them. He hasn’t mentioned dying, the equator or any of the other extreme things you keep waffling on about. We get it, you worked in a hot factory and lived to tell the tale, bully for you. Get down from that high horse before you fall off due to heatstroke.

So your advice to people, maybe even the elderly who might be catching a train, is don't be prepared - if you start feeling thirsty just wait and pay over the top pricing for a drink or even visit a skanky toilet and put mouth against a tap that has been used by god knows how many people who haven't washed hands. Excellent.

The Onley problem is common sense todays date is not very common anymore

But Working in a hot bilding with plumbing 24'7 and being on a train in the middle of nowhere with nothing are 2 different things. And that's wear you will want/need a drink on hand. And how hard is it to carry a liter of drink ? It's just 2 500ml bottles.

And sum not most but sum people are a bit stupid.

We were WORKING in it. Far more likely to be overcome by heat. You wont die sitting in a hot train for a few hours. Babies might, the elderly might. But babies depend on adults and the elderly dont need telling, they have seen it all and bought the tshirt. Stop warning the stupid about the bleeding obvious and clean out the gene pool.

I wont get heatstroke. I know to drink when thirsty. Like animals do. I wasnt having a pop at the op. I was having a pop at the society we niw live in that engineers out so many "dangers" and warns us about every possible slight that could befall us. We are becoming unthinking zombies, incapable of independant thought and decision making. Nobody needs to be told most of the advice we are given. I often wonder how our old people got to the age they did.

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

"Only in the UK .... "

Actually, only anywhere in the world where extreme heat is less frequent and such tolerances are difficult to build into the track.

If the think the UK is bad, try Canada where the track is so cold in the winter it could shatter, yet buckle with the same heat we`re experiencing!

"anyone had sex on a train ?"

I was going to, but there was no buffet service and I didnt want to overheat and collapse due to lack of water. I worked that out all by myself. I didnt need the NHS, the rail franchise or Andy Burnham etc to tell me.

"I don't think it's stupid advice to carry water of there is risk of delay to your journey. Trolley services (if they exist) are not infinite supplies and neither is the tap water on a train. Depending on how busy the train is it could run out quite quickly.

We in the UK are simply not geared up for very hot or very cold weather, rain we seem to be OK at lol

I never said it was stupid advice. Though it is advice for the apparently stupid. Thirsty? Try water! Christ on a bike."

You seem to be very aggressive.. Perhaps you are dehydrated.... Drink some water.

If you have the commons sense to be able, to mnhw your fluid intake, then I'd wager the advice was not aimed at you.

Like seaside said, we're not talkimg about workplaces where access to water (or tea) is plentiful. We're talking about situations where that access could be limited in emergency situations.

A litre of water isn't really that much to carry.
